According to journalist Matt Law, Tottenham Hotspur have already identified their first two signings for the upcoming summer transfer window.
After a prolonged search for a new permanent manager, Tottenham finally appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach.
The Australian did a remarkable job at Celtic winning 5 trophies in 2 years including a domestic treble this season.
The club is set for a significant rebuild in the summer as they aim to revamp their squad which will see a number of players leave the club and several new players come in.
And Law revealed on the Last Word On Spurs podcast that Spurs are looking to address two key positions early in the summer, namely a goalkeeper and a center-back.
Speaking on the podcast, he said:
“I know for a fact that people have been told that two key positions that Tottenham are looking to fill early this summer are goalkeeper and centre-back.”
Tottenham captain and long-serving goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has pretty much confirmed that he will be leaving the club this summer, possibly to his hometown club, Nice.
His contract expires next year, and Spurs are also reportedly open to selling him after a disappointing season from the Frenchman.
They have been linked with several candidates for his replacement including Brentford’s David Raya, Inter Milan’s Andre Onana and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Pickford seems the most likely candidate at the moment and as per the latest report from Football Transfers, Spurs have even contacted the Merseyside club regarding him.
The other position Spurs have prioritised is centre-back. Reports have suggested that the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, and Ben Davies are all likely to be let go by the club.
Unlike Conte’s three at the back, the Australian is likely to use his preferred 4 defenders which means the club will have a couple of centre-back who could be on the chopping block.
Manchester United’s Harry Maguire and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi are the two centre-backs most recently linked with the club.
While a goalkeeper and center-back are said to be the priority, Tottenham also desperately needs an attacking midfielder. The club has been strongly linked with James Maddison as a potential signing to address this need.
It is surely going to be an exciting summer for Spurs fans who will be anxiously looking forward to the team Ange Postecoglou builds.
