Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid want to acquire the services of Giovani Lo Celso ahead of next season.
Giovani Lo Celso has fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou. The 28-year-old Argentine attacking midfielder has had limited game time at the North London club this season and he could push for a move away in search of regular first-team action.
Atletico Madrid are one of the clubs keen on his signatures as they look to reinforce their midfield. They feel he is an ideal fit for their system and with him frustrated by the lack of minutes, the Madrid-based club are ready to put forward a ‘ridiculous offer’ worth only €20 million to land him at the club as per a report by Fichajes.
Simeone is on the lookout for midfielders who can add more attacking threat to their team. Lo Celso is someone who prefers playing in attacking roles and the Argentine manager feels he could do wonders for them. As a result, the Atletico boss wants the Spurs midfielder next season at ‘at all costs’.
Summer exit would be ideal for Giovani Lo Celso
Tottenham forked out a substantial fee to sign Lo Celso from Real Betis back in 2019. It was an initial loan move which was made permanent a year later. While he was expected to do great things at the club, the move hasn’t really gone according to plan.
The 28-year-old hasn’t been at his best at Spurs and he has been a squad player for them. In the ongoing season, he has had less than 600 minutes of first-team football. He is surplus to requirements at the club and with his contract running out in the summer of 2025, a move away from the club in the upcoming window is on the cards.
