Aston Villa have made an official enquiry about Spurs man that Tottenham could be tempted to sell

By Bruce Grove -

According to Sky Sports reporter, Rob Dorsett, Aston Villa is interested in signing Tottenham goalkeeper, Paolo Gazzaniga.

The Argentinean followed Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham and he has been the club’s second choice for some time now.

He had the chance to play quite a few games last season because Hugo Lloris was injured and he tried his best.

However, he can be beaten easily at times and is probably better-suited to a mid to lower-level Premier League team.

Aston Villa survived relegation on the final day of last season and they will be keen to build on that and avoid a relegation scrap in the coming campaign.

Tom Heaton is their first choice, but he was injured for the end of last season and they borrowed Pepe Reina from AC Milan.

They are now looking to sign another goalie to compete with the Englishman at Villa Park.

Dorsett Tweeted: “#avfc have enquired about #thfc goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. Not clear yet whether he would be too expensive, with a striker top of the priority list.”

Gazzaniga has new competition after Spurs signed Joe Hart on a free transfer following his release from Burnley.

He will probably be the third choice if he stays at Spurs this season and so a move to Villa Park is definitely a strong possibility.
