The calls to abandon this season, be it ‘merely’ a suspension or a complete void are getting louder. Jamie Carragher calls the action to halt the season “inevitable” and ponders just how the situation will pan out.

It’s unlikely that there will any genuine positives to come of this period, and just like everyone else, football clubs will be looking at damage limitation strategies.
One big difference for Spurs owners ENIC is that football fixtures are now merely part of the problem.
As Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is now just the anchor tenant in the new stadium and its additional revenue streams also stand to be damaged. Rugby, boxing and rock concerts from Guns N’Roses and Lady Gaga are also likely to be affected.
Newcastle gaffer Steve Bruce has announced this morning that he feels the Premier League ought to be halted. This despite no reports of the virus at Tyneside club.
