Dani Ceballos has defended Gareth Bale as he continues to struggle to play for Tottenham.
The Welshman moved to Spurs on loan from Real Madrid in the summer as he looked for more playing time.
Having been the best player in England just before he left Tottenham in 2013, the Lilywhites were hoping that he would achieve some of the levels of performances that he did before he left them.
He joined with an injury and he was allowed to make a full recovery, yet he hasn’t been able to break into the first team.
The Premier League is arguably one of the toughest leagues to impress for an attacking player.
Players coming from other countries also struggle to adapt when they initially arrive, and Ceballos says Bale needs time.
The on-loan Arsenal man says that players know the league is tough, but when they start playing in it, they realise that it is even tougher than they think.
“When Bale was here seven years ago the league was completely different,” Ceballos said to EFE via Mirror Football.
“Thomas Partey & Fabinho for instance, they knew the Premier League was a very physical league, but when you start to play you realize its twice as physical.
“It is difficult to adapt quickly. Maybe that’s what’s happening to Gareth.”

Annoys me…if I was drafted into a company to do a role for them, was earning more than anyone else (in the entire country for that job) and I started claiming…”I need 6-9months to get up to speed, until then I am useless to you” I am willing to bet I would not be given the latitude some offer to footballers. I personally think that if Bale is not 100% fit enough to contribute (and any otehr player for that mattter) they should not get 100% pay. I am not talking an injury picked up during the season, I am talking about when they join…and get “up to speed”.
Unleash him with 10 games left. Fit up and show dem Gareth.
Catch – 22, he’s not fit enough to play so he can never get match fit.
He has to play enough before judging him.
Of course… I don’t buy what Cebellos is selling either… The premier league hasn’t changed that much in 7 years.. Many of the same players and one could argue there were even better players 7-10 years ago..
Unfortunately we can’t wait two years until he’s up to speed. We need a contribution and we need it now.
