Are Christian Eriksen’s Hopes Of Replacing Luka Modric Ebbing away?

By Joe Fish -

Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen faces missing out on a move to Real Madrid because of the form of Federico Valverde, according to The Sun.

The Danish playmaker is out of contract at Spurs at the end of the season and told native newspaper Ekstra Bladet he was ready for a new challenge.

The 27-year-old remained at Spurs beyond the close of the summer transfer window, but AS reported that Real would swoop for him in January at a knockdown £30m fee, to avoid a bidding war with other clubs later on.

However, The Sun now understands that Madrid may shelve a move for Eriksen altogether because of Valverde’s impact at the start of the season.

The 21-year-old was not expected to feature much for Zinedine Zidane upon returning from his loan spell at Deportivo La Coruna, but injuries to Luka Modric and others have given him the opportunity to impress, and he has.

The Sun adds that Valverde is now viewed as the long-term replacement for Modric, and bringing in Eriksen could potentially block his development.

In the papers this morning that Roman has turned down a bid for Chelsea. He wants at least £3bn. Whoever you are, why not have a look at Tottenham?! It’ll be cheaper and you’ll already have Harry Kane and Heung min Son!! Bonus if you also like NFL.

Late pre season because of C.L Final? Liverpool also played in that final with no such issues.

Perhaps Poch means that when he’s working with a wage budget almost half that of Liverpool’s, and a chairman who can’t sort out a rebuild or player contracts with any degree of competence, that he needs all the help he can get?

Poch has been getting blood out of a stone with this squad, maximising performances out of what he has. When anything difficult emerges, we lack the depth of quality and options to rotate and freshen up.

I don’t see him looking for excuses, I just see him trying to find something else that has affected things rather than just our Bald supremo’s constant meddling…

They were raving about Sterling this morn…oh 200 million blah blah…2 open goals and another one on a plate after the defender over committed like a child. Just taking advantage of world class team mates.
….and if I wasn’t sure of some kind of sabotage of Phil Foden…I am now. 2 nothing yellows. Ridiculous.
