Antonio Conte signing was ‘upsetting’ Tottenham fan favourite ‘by his mere presence’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur signed Richarlison from Everton during the summer transfer window but the move has not worked out for either party.

The 26-year-old joined Tottenham for a fee of around £60 million and he has scored just once in the Premier League this season.

It has been a disappointing campaign for the Brazilian and presenter Laura Woods believes that Richarlison could be the biggest flop of the season.

While speaking to Talksport, she also revealed that Richarlison’s arrival must have been quite upsetting for Son Heung-min.

Woods said: “What about Richarlison? I just think Richarlison – how much was Richarlison? 60 million? He scored one Premier League goal in the end.

“There were times at the beginning when he was keeping Son out of the team. Well, not necessarily keeping him out, but it almost felt like he was upsetting Son by his mere presence in the team.”

Antonio Conte used the Brazilian forward on the left flank, a role usually occupied by the South Korean international. Son has had to play in different roles this season and his performances have been quite mediocre as well.

The Tottenham fan favourite could feel that the change of position has affected his performances this season and it remains to be seen whether he can get back to his best next year.

Son is undoubtedly one of the best players in the league and he has been a key performer for Tottenham over the years.

His decline in form has been a major blow for the north London club and they will need him to get back to his best if they want to qualify for the Champions League next year and challenge for trophies.

As for Richarlison, the Brazilian will be hoping to justify his big-money transfer to Tottenham with improved performances next season.
