Hopefully this all falls apart and I can get back to my normal routine of shouting ‘cretin!’, ‘charlatan’ and other words that begin with the letter ‘c’ in the direction of our illustrious commander in chief.
From a source close to the club, the Harry Hotspur blog understands that the transfer of Ryan Sessegnon is likely to take place before the departure of Danny Rose.
The deal is thought to be worth somewhere in the region of £25million plus various add-ons, which – for the soon to be up and coming 19-year-old – could well mount up over time, if playing for Spurs caught the eye of Gareth Southgate.
It is not just the versatility of the boy that has impressed Mauricio Pochettino, but his character.
Whilst the departure of Danny Rose will not sit comfortably with many fans, is this not the building about which you were so noisily crowing about? Ryan is almost 10 years Danny’s junior.
Levy seems to be a new man. Surely not.

I was barraged by people incapable of using it…

Cheers H, will take a look at the poll options.
I thought we were all getting used to ‘discuss’ and it went tits up for other reasons??
Either way would be great to have something that allows direct reply button to individual posts/chronological threads etc up and running for the new season. Even you must have noticed how much of a psychological barrier using the quote thing is, none of us are really getting into it with each others comments this way.
https://theboyhotspur.com/poll/
Personally I like Disqus, you can reply, and don’t have to log in every time. however, I would much rather what ever has more people talking.
It was kind of the quick-fire replies people did that made it not for the faint hearted at times but a good laugh too.
I wonder what The Flat Oeuf uses…
What’s happening with Bale? Seems he’s got as many transfer options as Eriksen…
I wasn’t able to access the Discus account after creating it. Even resorted to a password-reset email request. No email materialised after several requests.
Something wrong with it or whoever runs Discus is either incompetent or couldn’t give a crap. My experience of it anyway… what did you use in the old days? worked fine.
Chaps, this comments plug in is defunct and no longer serviced by the creators.
Until I can find one as good, you will have to use the QUOTE option.
I did install Discus, probably the most used option on the planet, but hardly anyone used it.
Personally Discus is the way forward, however I can’t MAKE people use it, nor can I pop round anyone’s home and insist that they they slowly read the read instructions.
I’ll add a poll with the available alternatives and we’ll see who wins.
I am not sue what the Poll is, but the replies still take me back to your homepage.

This is the crux of it…£11.5m NET spend, we are crediting the leopard for changing his spots, but realistically, in the space of 3 Windows he has still only spent a NET spend of £30m…where some clubs can spend £50m+ without selling.
Past 5yrs we have a NET spend of £62m (£38m in this window). Clubs that have spent less – Burnley (£60m), Southampton (£23m – bolstered by selling VVD), Norwich (newly promoted £23m in profit), Sheff united (£17m).
Our top Rivals…Liverpool (£114m after selling Coutinho), City (£583m…financial doping much??), Chelsea (£135m), Arse (£178m) and united (£421m).
Couple of the break through sides last year, Wolves (£164m), Everton (£206m), Bournemouth (£141m)
Put in perspective, City and united have spent more this window (NET wise) than we have in 5yrs.
People don’t seem to know what football is anymore. I just watched 5 minutes of video of DeJong for Barca sideways and back 4 and 5 yard passes and the comments hailing him as God. The ladies will get their way soon enough…..zzzzz

Sessegnon is an ok player. Relatively good season the Championship. Certainly not a first choice imo.
Levy hasn’t changed at all….. buy young and cheap …… Possibly sell on for profit in 5 years time. Or of course sell on with a free jamboree bag
Why is it pundits still link our players to clubs like United and arsenal? Both struggling, not in CL and further away from being stable than us.
He’ll end up well paid in the USA league
Because pundits are paid good money to talk out of their arse…
When was the last time a Premiership player moved to Mexico?? Janssen was a pure punt, if the best he can do is move to the Mexican league then you know something was fundamentally wrong with this player….
That makes sense. If celso or any other come in there’s no way Eriksen of someone else ain’t going out….Dele can go to China for that money.
Well, Janseen has gone so that takes Levy to 11.5m net spend….time is ticking…..
Man said. “The reason we are spending money is because a Chinese club has offered Tottenham big big money for dele. £200mil. Mil a month wages. I’m like ” gwarn levy big up yourself. Bye dele. Mans a scaffer working in the sun. ?

There’s more chance of Levy dropping season ticket prices to £250 than there is of Bale returning to us. I’ll state again that I won’t believe we’re signing either of Sessegnon or Lo Celso until I see them shirtographed. We acted too quickly in the window for our own good. Dreams of a spree were fed by the usual mammoth amounts of transfer rumours that we’d usually give little credence too. Levy said he’d never deal with Utd ever again but if they came in with a large enough offer for Eriksen I think he’d change his mind now. Davies can play on the left of a back 3 and that makes him more valuable to the manager than Rose sadly. As things stand all we’ve done is finally replace Dembele.
Lo Celso lef5 out of betis preseason tour ,fekir is in ,I think this one is going to happen chaps.
None of these players are in a Tottenham shirt though. Still just the 1 in….the wait is on….
1882. That and win PL2 I would’ve thought. That’s what I’d expect from the manager.
Tappaspur July 23, 2019 at 1:11 pm
an u23 coach is paid to develop players in the absence of others, at that age, he will NEVER get the best players. So if he cant accept that, then he is in the wrong job. His job is harder at Spurs than most, as we are willing to give youth a chance, but still.
Foyth will be our right back next seasob
Real Betis sign Fakir for 17.5M(BBC) so is he only a quarter of the quality of Lo Celso? He can’t be too shabby if Liverpool wanted him only for a problem with the medical to apparently scupper the deal.Yes perhaps nobody else came for him,but did Lyon need to sell. And did Poch not fancy him, because the price would appeal to Mr.Byright.
As far as I know nobody else is in for Lo Celso so does that mean Levy might revert to type? There are just over two weeks left of this window, hopefully Levy will make it count this summer.god knows we have waited long enough.
Levy doesn’t want to lose Poch. If Levy doesn’t spend the cash Poch will be off.
Eddie July 23, 2019 at 1:57 pm
Heard from a few Scouse fans that his medical wasn’t a small problem, but potentially career ending. So basically he will be 100%, but then could be written off straight away. This would have huge issues around insurance and the like, so I imagine Betis are willing to take the gamble using the LeCelso money as their own insurance.
It’s feels nice that everything is quite upbeat at the moment, what a contrast to the last two transfer windows, frustrating and embarrassing.
Fingers crossed we don’t lose to Villa on the opening day, that would be annoying.
Soon we’ll start winning titles right through the ages. And that goes for the ladies too?
Wayne Burnett. Man dem saying “give him a break man. Most of his best players are either with the first team squad or out on loan” so what! Same thing goes with the other teams. We were a joke in PL2 last season.
Has levy got a touch of sunstroke ,not used to this spending money on players this is our chairman isn’t it old habits and all that .Sorry not comfortable with this is there a sting Inthe tail around the corner I am now worried.
What’s do you consider as success for the coming season? Now we’ve put a serious crack in the world glass ceiling, would you settle for the F.A. Cup, its little brother, or something more Fortnum n’Mason?
Why can’t we find a real coach for our u23s is what I wanna know. Poch must know some good young up and coming managers who know how the game should be played. Wayne burnett out! He’s my only Tottenham gripe at the moment. Well him and Ben Davies. Both not good enough.
Spurs_est1882…. You obviously didn’t frequent the same nightclubs as I… The trick was to stay away from the ones with a labrador lead in their handbags, and keep a low profile till the last 15 minutes when ladies start whispering ‘I love you’ to anyone kind enough to offer them a lift, and the odd ice sculpture…
Trouble is, we are all optimistic pessimists; engrained in years of Spurs’ inability to compete, and with the gun trained on our own feet… Now, my youngest has taken up the baton of the latest Spurs fanatic in the family. I’m as much pleased for him as myself with our recent turnaround, and the demise of that other lot, who, coincidentally, ‘Don’t want to talk football anymore’…
Who is this fella posing as Daniel Levy? I’m not comfortable with all this good news at all. I smell a conspiracy. He’s become a host body taken over by a rational benevolent alien. We need to go to the club offices and shake some people down. What have you done with the real Levy? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH HIM?!!
Lovely day innit?!
SouthLondonSpur July 23, 2019 at 12:36 pm
I went to a few of those places too!! you very rarely had the “10”‘s waiting until 3am. As I said, very much a Levy approach, who cares who you get as long as you get them cheap and easy at the close of the window.
Arsenall…how long before they are a threat again….I hope a very long time!!
You never demanded anything of levy other than he do his job, nobody did. For four seasons Poch has delivered enic huge unexpected windfalls yet has been required to keep challenging with 14 or so useable players, regardless of fatigue, world cups, injuries, etc. Last summer they bribed the golden goose personally but he would almost certainly have walked this time if they hadn’t finally invested a small portion of his golden eggs back into strengthening the team.
Will suspend judgement until the dust has cleared on August 9. Only then can a clear-eyed assessment be made of whether the 19/20 team is an improvement on the one of 16/17. If it is, then one cheer for enic maximum.
SouthLondonSpur July 23, 2019 at 12:07 pm
Success would be any silverware next season, plus a top 4 and a fair crack at the CL. Next season I would like to think anything less than the title or the CL would be a bad season. I think we are a back up striker, 2 full backs and a keeper away from one of the top honors this year, depends if all the ITK pans out though.
Guys…before we get too excited, this wont be the first window we were nailed on to get some real talent and they ended up not arriving…or worse, we didn’t get what we expected.
I am starting to liken Spurs with pulling in a night club, the REAL hot ladies usually go home with someone else after you spent the night buying them drinks, or they don’t entertain you at all. When you finally do get someone to come home, you are either clear they are not the best, or the clubs lights have done them some real favours.
there is an old saying about leopards changing spots, personally, I may hold off until this lad is in a Spurs shirt.
I am so sorry to see Danny Rose leave if the deal go`s through , But we must build a new future and this lad Sessegnon has received all the accolades & he has got the right credentials , Danny has stabbed himself in the back so many times he has done himself so much harm that Mr Levy & Mauricio Pochettino has decided to make changes .
GiveItSomeWelly July 23, 2019 at 12:04 pm
I would love to see Bale come to us, and Real top up his wages. So still drain them a little. ZZ couldn’t learn English hence never came to England. He struggled with Italian too apparently. Bale can speak a little Spanish.
I cant wait to see Pogba at Real, throwing his toys out his pram, in a team full of ego’s and the managers is the biggest. Only issue Pogba going there is it bails united out of arguably one of the worst deals they have ever done. On his day, Pogba shows he could be worth the money, but his day is 1 in 3 and its when he can be bothered.
Media now saying AM are leaning towards Rodriguez rather than Eriksen so perhaps Eriksen will be staying after all? Would be amazing to be able to have more than one world class playmaker to strengthen the squad, having Lo Celso would I think concentrate CE’s mind to start playing more consistently and not go missing in games. Hopefully he could forget about RM and concentrate on winning stuff with us. Will be interesting if that is the case how much Levy will now pay the lad if Lo Celso is also on the bankroll.
RM seem to be focusing on Pogba once Bale goes, so CE might have to forget about buying a house in Madrid entirely. Would love to see manure turned into a selling club – poetic justice!
GiveItSomeWelly July 23, 2019 at 11:40 am
Funny you mention Bale, did you see the BBC article, he is 2nd most successful RM player, has been responsible for scoring winning goal in most of their finals, has won 30% of all their European titles and is STILL be treated like a pariah!! They say he cant speak Spanish, yet there are interviews with him speaking it.
Basically, what I can gather, there seems to be a clique at Real Madrid and Bale refuses to be part of it, and would much rather be a family man, and knuckle down on the pitch. Heaven forbid having a player that prefers a low profile and on pitch performances, while being one of the club’s top players. He has stats that should make him a club legend. There will be something go hugely wrong there soon.
As for the Spanish league, heard from a few guys at work (they live in Madrid) that there is mounting public pressure to spread the TV wealth more and that could see either Real in trouble or simply split from LaLiga.
Somebody has kidnapped the old Levy and cloned him with a replacement that actually seems to support the club that he’s chairman of. He looks like the old Levy but it appears to not minding spending money even before funds have arrived for outbound players, in addition he is actually buying quality players that the manager wants as opposed to those in the bargain bucket that nobody wants. Quite remarkable.
The jury is still out on Sessegnon of now as far as I’m concerned, but it is true that he probably will be a great player one day, hopefully Pooch can speed that transition up. His age is perfect to be turned into the player the manager wants, and yes Danny is 10 years older with regular injury problems, so it does make sense in the long run. Will be sad to see Danny leave though as on his day he was one of the best LB’s in the league, I think unfortunately he had a habit of blabbing to the press which ultimately sealed his fate, Pooch doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy to understand mental health problems. Hopefully the future is Sessegnon and we’ve laid the foundations for once again having flying wing backs that can also defend.
1882 it strikes me that Zidane is a twat when it comes to Bale. The lad has played some brilliant football for RM and helped them to multiple trophies, yet is now being treated like an outcast. If Zidane thinks Pogba will replace Bale like for like then he is sadly mistaken.
Once an headbanger always one. Bale must feel badly let down by that club, he shouldn’t go to China though, not yet. Would love to see him back at Spurs if he dropped his wage demands, I reckon we’d win the title with him in the squad along with our purchases/planned purchases. Some people have still not forgiven him for leaving, but he’d be nailed on for 20 goals a season I reckon.
RM is a stinking club full of political intrigue and favourites. I don’t blame Bale for not speaking Spanish, English is the language of football and Zidane doesn’t speak it, that’s the problem. Bald French cnut.
I am not sure Ryan is ready to fill DAnny’s boots. Personally would have preferred to see Davies exit for Sessignon. However, this is still a good purchase.
I think we still need a right back, but looks like the plan is Aurier and KWP on the right, Davies and Sessignon on the left. I am hoping to see Toby, jan and CE sign new deals…I think that (plus unloading some of the crap) would signify the best window I have ever seen.
Would mean all we are lacking is Kane cover, but with Son, Moura, “Llorente” and Parrot, we may actually be ok.
