Mousa Dembele is one of the finest central midfielders that Tottenham has had in recent seasons and the Belgian was a brilliant player for the club before leaving in January 2019.
He left just a few months before the club lost the Champions League final to Liverpool that year.
There is a feeling that they would probably have won the game if he had been in the team.
The Belgian made almost 200 league appearances for the club from 2012 to 2019 and has left a huge void in their midfield.
He was one reason Spurs were so good under Mauricio Pochettino and they have failed to replace him since he left the club.
They signed Tanguy Ndombele in the year he left, but inconsistency has plagued the Frenchman’s time at the club and he is struggling to play in this campaign.
The Lilywhites will face Rennes in their next competitive game in the European Conference League and they took to their account to post a goal from the last time they visited France.
Dembele scored it and it reminded some of their fans about what they are missing.
Here are some of their reactions:
Another player Levy failed to replace, thanks for the reminder 👌👌

Please stop posting videos of Dembele, it’s incredibly distressing

Chelsea fan who as sold to us for a big fee for the time and he was a total flop. Bitterness…
He was often carrying injuries in the end.
It was the best midfielder we had since Modrić. Different kind of player but just as important in the middle of the park.
Unless you regard Sissoko as a replacement, but I don’t think anyone did! 🤔
I was a big fan of Dembele.
Dembelecwas class. Very underrated and we never got overpowered with him in midfield.
Big fan of Rodon when he plays, and will surely prove himself if he gets a proper run, but we’ll see about that. Dembele was superb on his day, but frustratingly he should have been that more often than he was.
Of course, I’ve committed an error in the spelling of Cundy; the y should be redundant and the fourth letter of his surname replaced with the twentieth letter of the alphabet.
Doesn’t it just, Eastie!
Jason Cundy (Talk Sport) kept maintaining that Dembele was an actual weak link at Spurs which I could never understand. Was it a deliberate attempt at sabotage by the Chelsea supporting pundit?
It took Levy three years to replace Dembélé with Tangy. I think that just about says it all…
