Being referred to as Spursy is very irritating but it will never stop until Tottenham stop being, well, Spursy.
We all know what is meant by that term, it means to basically bottle it and truth be told, Spurs have mastered that art in recent years and if there was ever an opportune moment to put that awful term to bed, it is now.
Today Chelsea got an absolute thrashing at the hands of West Brom and that means a win over Newcastle United tomorrow and Tottenham go fourth.
Now, West Ham and Everton, with their respective games in hands can dislodge us from that fourth spot, but these two still have to play each other and that means at least one of them must drop points.
Oh, and we still have Everton to play as well.
We are now very close to having top four in our own hands and the chances are very high that will be the case if we keep on winning.
No doubt some will point out that Tottenham still has Leicester City and Man Utd to play, however, the way I look at that is that wins over those two and second is not beyond our reach.
What a turnaround a couple of weeks make, after the Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb debacles the calls went out for Jose Mourinho to be sacked, within 24 hours he could be fourth, strange how fortunes change so dramatically.
That said, we have been here before this season and each time we have been found wanting, thus the Spursy barbs but the lads can put that to bed, at least temporarily, if they do what we expect them to do and that is beat the Geordies tomorrow.
Yep, the excuses are becoming tedious. Our first choice team is more than capable and our manager is highly decorated. They might not be world beaters but they should be doing better than this, manager included…
Time for the players and Jose to step it up, this is the squad and our first 11-13 players aren’t snowflakes or shirkers but ful internationals and our skipper is a World Cup winner. Enough of the excuses please…
We’ve been decidedly average but luckily the rest aren’t any better. We have a world-class forward that could be the difference. With Sonny back fit and in form, maybe two. 200m Chelski can’t say that…..
Spot on – we have a great chance with a pretty decent run-in. Bar City, anyone can beat anyone so some testicular fortitude could well be the deciding factor.
Dr. Tottenham is hopefully away for Easter 😏
Agreed it is now or never there is no room for excuses the best 1st 11x are fit and they have 1 game once a week and the trophy to win is top4 finish and a League cup and your season will be very successful short of that it is everybody’s guess let’s finish the season on a high note and dare to do it cheers.
Yep. We’re right up in it man. CL here we come.
Thanks to you I’m much obliged, such a pleasant stay.
Highbury I’ll always remember.
A team without Doherty, Dier, Sissoko and Winks is a start.
Does he yet know his best X1??
Currently leading 2-0 Liverpool are doing something we failed to do at the Emirates.
Winning!!
Not for the first time and probably not the last that moi of little faith prematurely wrote off our chances for top 4 spot which may/may not go the wire on this one!
😂 Spursy wasn’t really added, but there were rumours..
We are in the top four race no doubt. Fair shout Bruce you predicted we were in the running.. People tried telling me on here we have ‘no chance’. Well we’re still in it guys so support your team rather than write the lads off…. Unfortunately we will never escape the dreaded ‘Spursy’ definition now. It was added to the Oxford English dictionary in 2016.
You know just as we get back into contention we will royally balls it up again.
It’s the hope that kills you.
Jose must stick with those he trusts. Only the league and a cup final so players can rest when the season is over. Get it done.
