Another Day And Another Potential Spurs Manager Looks To Already Had A Better Offer

By The Boy -

Daniel Levy is having the toughest season of his career, it’s official. An unkind person might suggest that this is much of his own making and gradually what has been a series of disasters of varying proportions have begun to exponentially snowball into what could become a full-on crisis.

I used to work with a manager who by approximately 10 am every day could be heard to say, “I’m fighting fires here” – which he then proceeded to liberally douse in his own propriety blend petrol. One must wonder if Daniel is even crawling over the 10 am mark these days.

Football Insider believes that Scott Parker has been shortlisted for the U21’s England manager’s job. By none other than former Tottenham man John McDermott.

I take a view that quite who might be left on Levy’s managerial wish list at this stage – is anyone’s guess. My 10 bob note remains on Rafa. Succession planning at Tottenham has never been great, but hurling Mourinho out in a fit of pique just a week before a cup final has really been a literal game-changer. This is quite ironic for a club that once boasted so many pro-ENIC fans’ whose catchphrase was care what you wish for…

Anyone else find it mad that Spurs fans are praying for PSG to perform so poorly that Poch is available for hire?

I personally am not bothered if he comes back. We finished 3rd in a 2 horse race and now he’s guiding PSG to 2nd in a 1 horse race.

What exactly does he bring? The last year or so was awful football and rotten atmosphere.

I think Poch has had his fill of Levy, he’s better off elsewhere.
Anyway the club has come on leaps and bounds since he left. Those champions leagues nights were massively overrated.

Starting to get into the groove Chelskis combined outlay on 5 players last summer was £218m.

Havertz – £70m
Werner – £47.5m
Ziyech – £33.5m
Chillwell – £45m
Mendy -£22m

Agree with you 100%, a retrograde step for certain. But he appears to be the mouth breather’s choice.

I think bearing in mind Levys ego, I can see him going for Benitez assuming hes available then…ultimately if the remit is top 4, whoever it is will be gone by early March….. the irony is in 2 years time we may look back and say Mourinho actually did alright…😂

How could you have left out Chiriches, Paulinho, Soldado, such memories I have of them.

In fair Sanchez in his first 2 seasons was really good…. most of the others you can count the good games they’ve had on your fingers…I thought lo no show was closer to 40 million than 25… either way proper mugged there.. How many games has he been our best player?

The amount of money we’ve wasted on transfers over the past five years is an utter disgrace, almost buying useless cr*p for the sake of it……These are the players signed over the years but rarely played for us; Fazio, Stambouli, Wimmer, N’Jie, Janssen, Nkoudou, Foyth, Llorente, Clarke, Sessegnon, Bergwijn & Doherty…..Guess how much all of these cost in total? Close to £150m….

I haven’t even factored in the players that brainlet Steve Hitchen has signed since he started at Spurs…..Sanchez (£42m), Aurier (£23m), Ndombele (£55m), Lo Celso (£25m) to name a few (Plus Foyth, Llorente, Clarke, Sessegnon, Bergwijn & Doherty from the previous list). We won’t get any decent fee for any of these players…..

Money has been available to spend but Spurs have been so useless at spending it rightly (£300m in 4 seasons including the one where we didn’t buy anyone) Levy here is to blame as he hasn’t held Hitchen accountable for this gross misuse of funds (how many of these players were in the starting line up against Leeds?), he’s supposed to be this financial wizard after all…..

I don’t know why Levy doesn’t appoint himself. He appears to be picking the team and he knows more about the transfer market than all the previous managers he has sacked and think of the money he would save.

They drew away….and had ten men at the end. I fancy them to nick it. France is better than the last 8 years or so, it’s got a bit more competetive.

I hoped Parker would have some sense. Take the U21 job mate. He doesn’t want to become another front man for the Levy con. Rafa has become the Bob a job man at clubs now so could fill a year gap, he worked under Ashley so has an inkling of what he will face. Mason is the perfect Levy man, Parker could be….I hope he runs far away….so Rafa would be the only real option after that.

Enjoy the ride.😶

Yeah, let’s re-appoint a manager who won nothing with us on a shoe string budget. Who then when onto to manage a team/club with riches beyond belief in terms of money and a football team with some of the worlds best players in it and still won nothing ….

Yeah great choice. He’s a serial loser. No thanks.

At least Rafa has worked with a few atrocious Chairmen in his time. Maybe he’s a glutton for punishment?

I’ve said this so many times now…. No
manager with a good reputation will come to us. No manager looking to enhance his reputation will come to us. Levy’s now left with the manager at the end of his career looking to bolster his pension. Or of course the bloke nobody’s ever heard of. Who won a cup once in some random Sth American Saturday league.

Levy had turned us into a footballing pariah.

ENIC OUT !

I was going to say Benitez. He wouldn’t be my first choice (as they have gone now) but its imperative an experienced bloke is brought in to steady the ship. Although I’d love to see a young progressive manager like Potter, Parker, etc, it would be a serious gamble imo.

This self-inflicted carnage is beyond parody and makes me wonder if Levy has some serious pyschological issues going on.

Another woeful performance from PSG last night and second place in a one horse race beckons. Is the writing on the wall, will Poch return after his sacking in a fortnight? Whether for better or worse, Daniel can appease those in the fanbase that still haven’t got over his departure and MoPo can quickly forget about his disaster on the continent.

I am not sure that Mourinho was sacked in a fit of pique. I believe he was sacked at the optimum cheapest time for his compensation. This was because we were outside the top four and we ironically hadn’t won a cup, so he was sacked the week of the final. This is how Levy operates. There is no long term plan in the way the football club is run. This includes managerial decisions, coaching and recruitment staff and the sort of philosophy we are trying to achieve. By that I mean, are we going with a youth policy with a young and aspiring coach such as a Potter, Parker or Nagelsmann although that ship has sailed or are we going for a proven winner like Mourinho, although that ship has also sailed? There is no joined up thinking as to how the club is run. All decisions seem to be made on the hoof. We have always been a cup side, now our ambitions seem to be to achieve a top four place at the exclusion of anything else. We are a complete mess and this can be laid firmly at the door of Levy.

One things for sure – Levy won’t get his 1st, 2nd or even 3rd choice of preferred manager. Whoever gets a tune out of that lot deserves a statue. Imagine taking on a job where you know that you won’t be able to buy/sell the players you want. Maybe it’s the same at most clubs? Can’t imagine why it doesn’t create a team spirit.
