Ange Postecoglou refused to allow Tottenham to loan out one player in the summer – he ‘likes’ him very much

Ange Postecoglou did not allow Tottenham Hotspur to loan out Bryan Gil in the summer.

That is according to Spanish outlet AS which claims that Spain is celebrating the return of the player from his injury.

Gil spent the last 5 months on the sidelines, after struggling with a groin issue for which he had to undergo a surgery for in the summer.

He made his long awaited return against Crystal Palace, coming off the bench to make a cameo in their 2-0 win at Selhurst Park.

The report claims that his last 5 months have been in ‘agony’ due to the injury.

And while Gil struggled to make a name for himself at Spurs since joining them, things at the club are different now.

Ange Postecoglou is now in charge whose style of play would suit Gil.

In fact it is being reported that Ange ‘likes him’ very much and even refused to sanction a loan move for him in the summer.

This indicates that Ange has plans to make the Spaniard part of the revamped Tottenham team.

He suggested recently that Gil has an important part to play, particularly in the absence of Perisic and Solomon.

Gil’s return provides depth in that area, and Postecoglou stated his optimism about his contribution.

Alasdair Gold previously claimed that Gil’s versatility, ability and style of play would ‘fit nicely’ into the way Ange wants his players to play.

Tottenham are doing extremely well at the moment, currently sitting on the top of the table with a 2 point lead over Arsenal and 5 point lead over Manchester City.

How Ange integrates Gil into the team who are already doing so well remains to be seen.
