April’s Fool? Watch Ange’s latest interview and ask yourself where the truth lies

This has been a diabolical season, not just tough. All sides have injuries, and it’s part of any responsible coaching job description, yet there appears to be a tranche of supporters who are neither depressed nor worried by what has been a truly forgettable second term for the Australian. Surely this is an April Fool’s from Ange?

Ange’s candid demeanour is undermined by the fact that, despite him appearing to be a master of the game, this season, we’ve been ejected from all competitions and are now left banking upon winning the Europa League, a competition that thus far has only generated opponents that have been Championship grade which was reflected in their pricing.

Truths not approached in this cosy chat include that a defeat at Chelsea on Thursday would see Ange become the first Tottenham boss to lose his first four league games against the Blues.

From the November 6th defeat (also to Chelsea), we have suffered more league defeats (27) than wins (22). In total, we have lost 35 matches since Nov 5th, 2023, before the Chelsea game at home.

Our away form has also been horrendous. Only relegation-threatened sides Leicester (10) and Southampton (12) have lost more Premier League away games this season than us (8).

We have lost a staggering 15 of our 29 Premier League games, taking us over the 50% mark.

We have lost 19 games in total so far, with 11 games to go, giving him a 43% win percentage

We have a PPG average for the season so far of 1.17.

This data is frankly embarrassing for a club of our size. If there’s a breaking point, then compared to how previous coaches were treated under ENIC, we’re already long past it.

I say again, surely this is an April Fool’s from Ange?
