Analysis/Video: Troy Parrott, Ipswich’s Weakest Link Against Accrington

By The Boy -

It’s the hype that kills ya.

This morning I fire up the iMac and see that Troy Parrott has won rave reviews for his appearance against Accrington last night. Here are just a couple of supportive notices, there were a lot more. All written by people with greater powers of appreciation than I.

Looking for Parrott’s best actions, there was very little there. So it occurred to me that maybe I was missing something by just looking for goals and assists, etc. but the broader the search went, the less there was to be found.

The moral of the story here is I don’t know if Troy is going to make it, but I do know that grabbing half a dozen social media comments from ‘civilians’ without establishing the facts, creates disinformation.

So this isn’t about opinions differing. Whilst some fans clearly enjoyed watching Troy play, the reality is that he did not play well.

Here are the highlights.

I heard he played as a number 10 and won a penalty, or was that the previous match? Dunno… Anyway, I think fans just see what they see, even if what they see might be misleading in comparison to the actual performance stats of said player.

He has some way to go before he’ll be considered ready for our first team.

Just to sum up here you’ve said people who actually watched the whole game are wrong because you’ve spent two minutes looking at some statistics and then watched some highlights for the wrong game.

Brilliant analysis.

You’ve used clips from the wrong game.

Parrot is doing pretty well and you’ve got no idea what you’re talking about.

Also, we’ve won the league more recently than you. Little crappy Ipswich.

A lot of rumours often circulating about Troy as being mad for the nightlife and also keeping some seriously bad company out of hours. Hoping he’ll buckle down and not do a Gio Dos Santos.
