Analysis| Dele Alli vs Leeds United

By The Boy -

Okay, let’s try one more time and from the top. Footballers need to have talent, but they also require work rate, commitment, and concentration levels that are greater than that of a ten-year-old in a Lego store.

Total actions success or failure maps are a goo overarching discipline when looking at that player’s performance because they provide clarity. 45% is woeful for any player, who was on the park for 68-minutes.

There was more to cheer in respect of passing where Dele hit 85%, better than his current mean average of 81.5%.

Of course, there was also the assist that provoked our goal, but we are back where this all began, with the fanbase divided into those who believe that not achieving much can be entirely counterbalance by one good pass.

Conclusion I’d challenge anyone to name a top-flight side (so not Sheffield Wednesday or Wolfsberger FC) where Dele would walk into their first team. The transfer markets will remain flat and the likelihood of Daniel Levy wanting to get less than the magic number in his head is, therefore, less than zero.

Some time ago, but the first leg champions league match against City, I remember thinking just how good Dele’s work rate was. He was quick to every ball. What has happened between then and now. I think he was playing in a deeper role as well.
He’s a great finisher, good in the air and good movement. Can dribble and pass, but for some reason he’s not completely switched on at the moment. Like Lingard I hope he can turn it around.

I just don’t get this fitness problem. We’ve almost finished this season and still players can’t complete a match. For the handsome rewards they receive this is totally unacceptable.

With very few exceptions this squad has become complacent and lazy and simply aren’t good enough. These are professional sportsmen ffs.Sadly in the current market it looks like most if not all will still be with us next season.

There’s undoubted potential but he’s not giving enough. In my mind he’s too erratic to play deep midfield and not enough goals or assists to play as an attacking midfielder. Maybe that will improve under Conte or Potter or whoever. He was never a good fit for Mourinho.

He’s 23. I think he’s got the potential to be the best midfielder in Europe. (Just my opinion)
He buys good free kicks too

Yep Tanguy is a bit of a joke. Slightest knock and he wants off. Happy to sell him on. Not sure he has the right attitude much like Aurier, Rose and Dele to name a few.

I think he’ll still be a tottenham player next season. I’m not his biggest football fan. For the right money he can go.

Its one of the reasons Mourinho conceded possession to numerous teams, and picked Sissoko. When was the last time either: Bale, Lo Celso, & Alli started, and finished a premier league game? So even if you have under performing players thats 3 subs you have to make by default…furthermore neither Mourinho or Poch has managed to consistently get 90 good minutes out of Tanguy a week….thats simply astonishing for a 50 mill + player earning north of 10 mill a year….

He looks rusty and completely lacking confidence but he actually had a decent first half i thought. Second half he completely faded. Good pass for the disallowed goal. Bizarrely, now Mourinho has gone he seems to have cut out the flicks.
Fitness of the squad overall is a big problem. Leeds ran rings round them. Dele, Bale, Ndombele all struggle with any more than 60 minutes.
