Analysis: Dele Alli Apologists Waiting On A Miracle

By The Boy -

An ode to Dele Alli…

Dele Alli’s ‘heat’ map

A heat map sans heat just about sums this boy up. Alli has gone from an utterly inconsistent attacking player to a footballing butterfly with a license to roam to no good purpose.

At first glance, Dele’s passing accuracy looks to be decent enough, but under closer inspection, this was largely down to how little involvement he had in the game. 18 attempted passes are more or less 50% less than he delivered against Watford. His average number of touches is 38.36.

To add insult to injury, he lost the ball 9 times; on 5 occasions in his own half.

Based upon this player’s history and recent form, we’re looking at someone who simply isn’t good enough to be at a club with the aspirations of a club like Tottenham Hotspur. Anyone holding out for Dele Alli to turn into the player they hope he might is naive in the extreme.

There is nothing in his numbers to suggest that he is capable of achieving the required levels of consistency. Those so stubborn to insist that the boy will come good, are waiting for a miracle.

Whose they ? You ? 😂 I don’t have to justify anything either to you or anyone else in this or any other forum. I know my credentials as do my friends, family and importantly the players who I coached and now play professional football not just for Spurs but all throughout all divisions in the UK and abroad. Oh

How about instead of trying to be a smart arse you answer the question I’ve repeatedly asked. What’s your counter argument to my point that Dele is just another piece of deadwood.

He’s ‘a fraud’, according to the longest serving coach at the Spurs academy👇

You’re done with it now, but don’t forget .. they will be scrutinizing your comments from now on for some reassurance that you were employed to coach Spurs’ academy players .. for 15 years ! You’ve made it unnecessarily hard for yourself.

Dele looks finished, too slow and just not producing anything worthy of a place in the team, can’t believe we didn’t sell, but that’s Levy.

So, your logic if I’m right, is, I’m a UEFA qualified coach and as such cannot hold a negative opinion on a player ?

Like I said in my previous comment. You clearly learned about football playing FIFA. That’s not a credential by the way.

The previous manager called Dele out. The England manager dropped him from his squad. He was poor under Pochetino.

You still haven’t countered my point. Instead all you seen to want to do is question my credentials.

I’m done with this now. This whole blog has been about how poor Dele is. 99.9% of the comments agree with it. You clearly don’t but have no reasoned point of view to counter that point of view.

Your comments on Alli are not those of a pro football coach. You say you coached at Spurs Academy for 15 years. That’s a remarkable tenure even at development level. Probably the longest serving coach the Academy has had. What is your name?

I am still a UEFA coach. I should also preface by saying I have worked for other PL clubs in that role. My knowledge of football hasn’t come from playing FIFA or Manager like I suspect yours has. Mine has come from nearly two decades working with some of the country’s best coaches and professional players.

I see from your last comment that you still haven’t offered a rebuttal of my claims, which suggests your time in this blog is to offer nothing but sarcastic comments and being a genuine arse. A loan voice in an internet void.

Good day.

Jimmy, if you were genuinely a UEFA licensed coach who worked for the Spurs academy for 15 years then that frightens me on Spurs’ behalf. Fortunately your comments on Deke Alli give lie to the claims. They are about as analytical and insightful as the comments of Cali, Sonificent and the rest of them. Perhaps it will now be claimed they are also UEFA licensed coaches employed by Premier League clubs…

When we finish bottom half of the table.., some will say maybe Mourinho wasn’t that bad after all… Skipp looked off the pace yesterday.. thats worrying 4 games into the season as there is no one in our sqaud to replace him, and that was someone who spent last season on loan 😯

Cheers for the support 👍

His response would have been far better had he countered my point with some evidence that what I said was wrong. Instead he tried to be funny which frankly backfired IMO

I know he is,as is Gilmore another really good prospect.I mentioned this on an earlier blog that our [world class] academy doesn’t seem to produce these types of player.

The apologists will tell you it was Mourinho who flattened Dele’s career. Those of us with a footballing brain knew different as did Mourinho. He’s a fraud. He believes his own hype. The riches of his salary have seen him concern himself more with flash watches and a social media profile.

Another piece of deadwood that should have been moved on over a year ago.

Apart from one defensive block his game offered nothing positive to our cause.Even Nuno who looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights, must surely realise he has no future at Spurs.

A lot of people are piling on with Palace are a sh*t side, but there were timeswhen they passed through us with ease so what does that say about our performance.

And in Gallagher they had a young player wanting to make things happen, sadly unlike any of our academy products.

In fairness they have always been a stubborn side to break down under Hodgson. Not pretty to watch I agree ,but often got the job done. Not every team can play an open expansive game and get results.

Need to look at the coach. Three DMs deployed against Crystal Palace. No coherent plan, no confidence, no ambition. Unwilling to introduce creative players even after going behind. Even Mourinho wasn’t this negative.

This really is his last season to show he has what it takes to be at a big club. Funny how he and Eriksen were probably worth a combined 140m a few years ago. ‘Mastermind’ Daniel got 15m for Eriksen and I doubt you’d get much more for Dele now. Dithered on Grealish at 15m, the list goes on.

Can we just shut this Levy ‘transfer mastermind’ stuff down once and for all? There’s no evidence to substantiate this ludicrous claim, that’s before we even mention Tangy…

The verse is terse, but so spot on H. The boy is a spent force, a shadow of his former self. I have a car boot sale wish list forming in my mind for early 2022 and Deli is on it along with Winks. It will take time and a certain ruthlessness to disrupt the comfort zone that Spurs has become for some of these players. They need to be let go of now as the proverbial “Wake-Up” call has been sounded on numerous occasions and has clearly not been heard.

Mourinho got it right when he said to Dele….are you Dele or are you his brother? If anyone bothers to Google …Dele’ s stats he would find that Dele has been going backwards 3 to 4 years ago …yes even under poch.
