Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest regarding the future of Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, the transfer expert claimed that Hojbjerg has changed his agent and is looking for a move in either the January transfer window or in the summer.
He added that the player wants to leave is is preparing for the future move.
He said:
“There is always movement and now they are restarting. You have to be connected and in touch with clubs.
Players who aren’t happy with their clubs are already thinking of the January transfer window.
For example, an important player at Tottenham – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg he changed his agent and now he’s looking for a move in January or in the summer transfer window, but he wants to leave Tottenham, so they’re already preparing for the future.”
The 28-year-old joined Tottenham in 2020 after impressing with his performances for Southampton.
Since his arrival, he has been a consistent and reliable presence in the midfield.
However, he was not able to impress the new Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou and was linked with a move away from the club.
Atletico Madrid were keen on signing him and even made a bid for him but could not come to an agreement with Tottenham.
The Danish midfielder ended up staying at the club but has failed to make a start in the league with Ange’s preferred midfield trio being Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison.
He has played in 5 of the 6 Premier League games but all of those appearances have come off the bench as a substitute.
TBH Says:
There is no doubting his ability and talent. He has been one of the most reliable presence in the Tottenham midfield since coming in.
But it’s important to keep into consideration that the managers he played under all employed a passive style of play which perhaps suited the Dane.
Ange Postecoglou’s style of play is completely opposite to the previous managers, with him demanding a much more attacking football.
