These are challenging times alright – as I find myself agreeing with ENIC’s representatives on Earth and Lord Sugar – in the same week.
His lordship is politer than I and talks about people accessing a club’s boardroom on the basis of merit only, opposed to. After many decades of attending football matches, if I learned one thing, and that was not all voices need to be heard. Let alone invited into the boardroom.
The fan influence bubble is about to spectacularly burst, one senses.
Making token gestures purely based on the weight of very recent public opinion and social media pressure is the very definition of a ‘wokey’ response.
”All of a sudden we are suddenly so woke to all this, please tell us your concerns” etc = ‘wokey’
Not seeing the wokey move in this blud.
Care to explain?
Sugar is an ENIC fanboy, he’s one of their mates basically. He sold to them because he knew them…
It has to be said, the idea of fan representation being involved at board level does seem like little more than tokenism and a very ‘wokey’ type move.
I mean who’s appointed as representative and if there’s something like a ticket price hike and this person doesn’t dig their heels in enough, what happens then ? They get the wrath of the fans as well as the board?
This is far from straightforward, however this doesn’t men that some kind of representative presence is unworkable either…
Sugar is sweet we all know that but we also know it is not good for you. I maybe think he prefers little or no change to the status quo; he certainly doesn’t want to entertain actual supporters on a board, that would never do after all what do we know about football? If I was a sensitive soul I could say I feel mildly offended by that dismissal but I’m not so prefer to park Lord Sugar’s views where they belong-in the past?
