A report sheds light on the future of Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur

By Eddie Razo -

This news might not have needed to be reported on, but any Tottenham Hotspur supporters who still had doubts that manager Antonio Conte wasn’t planning to stick around past this season can put those to rest.

ESPN reports that the Italian tactician is expected to stay as Spurs head coach next season after positive talks with the club’s managing director Fabio Paratici in Turin.

The report adds that Conte has received the guarantees, with the club ready to invest a significant proportion of the £150m investment on new players.

As a result, Tottenham will now attempt to execute an aggressive transfer plan, including signing a central midfielder, two wing-backs, a backup striker, and one center-back.

After clinching a top-four finish and guaranteeing the north London club UEFA Champions League football next season, many speculated that Conte would stay on, but there’s still the question as to whether Tottenham would commit to spending to improve the squad.

Conte wants to win silverware next season, so with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool not going away, the 52-year-old knows that domestically he has to construct a squad that can compete with them.

A few days ago, Tottenham announced a cash injection of £150 million from the club’s majority shareholder, ENIC, to help provide “greater financial flexibility and the ability to further invest on and off the pitch.”

The next step in this project will likely be inking Conte to an extension should he replicate his success and deliver Spurs a trophy.
