A report makes bold claim as to why Antonio Conte isn’t managing Manchester United

By Eddie Razo -

Since arriving in north London, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has turned Tottenham Hotspur around. The Italian tactician now has Spurs in the top four and controls their destiny if they want to finish in the top four.

After seeing Conte’s work in north London, some pundits are asking why Manchester United didn’t jump all over the 52-year-old when he was out of a job. However, Manchester Evening News reports that Cristiano Ronaldo vetoed Conte as a potential Manchester United manager earlier this season.

The Red Devils asked Ronaldo for his opinion on their managerial uncertainty in October. Conte was open to accepting the job at Manchester United, but he was handed the Spurs reins instead, remaining out of employment until November.

Manchester United instead hired Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager and are reportedly set to hire Erik ten Hag. Nonetheless, they remain out of the top four and have a tough hill to climb if they want to win Champions League football next season.

Meanwhile, Spurs might consider thanking the 37-year-old if he didn’t want The Red Devils to appoint Conte considering the heights the Italian tactician can take the club if appropriately backed this summer.

Odd that Utd’s board would listen to Ronaldo. As a player he has been great, but what does he know about implementing strategy at one of the biggest clubs in world sports?

Players should play. That is it. Someone please tell NDom!

IF true, just highlights why Manchester United are the in shambolic mess they find themselves.
Ronaldo may think & act like he’s ‘big-time Charlie Cheesecake’ but he’s the worst example of a team player in Premier League history.
Ronaldo surely knew if Antonio was appointed, he’d not have played but been made the kit laundry person’s assistant!

I wonder is this a glimpse of player power troubling Old Trafford, or if the report is supposed to highlight another reason why the other players are rumoured to harbour deep resentment for Ronaldo.

Why would he? Currently he has moulded a team at Spurs, and now the troublemakers have been shipped out the remaining players all seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet and playing their socks off for him.
At Utd they don’t have a real team, they have a bunch of overpaid stars who are all pulling in different directions and some consider themselves more knowledgeable and important than the manager. Any manager there is going to find ego management as important as tactics. They do have some brilliant players though and it’s only a matter of time before somebody gets them to gel. I would advise Levy to strengthen heavily this summer to offset their potential future rebirth.
