According to London World, Tottenham are ‘locked in negotiations’ with Juventus to sign Dejan Kulusevski on a reduced price on a permanent deal.
Kulusevski joined Spurs on loan from Juventus last January and made an immediate impact. He was one of the key players that played a crucial role in helping the team secure a spot in the Champions League.
Although this past season was marred by injuries, hampering his ability to replicate his earlier form, Kulusevski still managed to contribute 2 goals and 7 assists.
Throughout his one-and-a-half-year stint at the club, the Swedish player impressed with a total of 7 goals and 16 assists in 57 appearances across all competitions.
His loan agreement included a clause that made the transfer obligatory if Tottenham secured a top-four position.
However, with Spurs failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, Spurs are no longer obligated to sign him on a permanent deal for €35m.
As a result, as per the latest report, Tottenham are now engaged in negotiations with Juventus to secure a better deal for Kulusevski, as they remain keen on signing him permanently.
Tottenham expert Alasdair Gold recently claimed that Spurs see the player as a bargain signing and are fully expected to sign him even if they have to pay the £30m asking price for him.
Gold believes that the the payment is expected to be paid over the next 5 years which makes the deal a “no brainer”.
With new manager Ange Postecoglou in charge, it remains to be seen whether he sees Kulusevski as a player who fits his team’s style.
However, it is evident that the club are eager to secure the Swedish winger on a permanent basis, and if reports are to be believed, negotiations with the Italian club are already underway.
