A new twist in the Bryan Gil tale, Spurs are now in fresh talks as Marseille watches on

By Eddie Razo -

After less than a couple of months into his stint with Tottenham Hotspur, Bryan Gil went out on loan in January to Valencia, where he impressed but reportedly knows that he is not part of manager Antonio Conte’s plans for next season.

Gil has a market in Spain, and there’s a new club inquiring about landing the 21-year-old this summer. According to transfer window journalist Ekrem Konur, Real Sociedad is talking with Tottenham to sign Gil on a season-long loan deal.

The young forward wants to play in La Liga, the ideal place to develop and show the best football version of himself after displaying good qualities during his six-month stint with Valencia, where he reached the Copa del Rey final.

La Liga is a league that Gil is familiar with, and he has the confidence that his skill set with translate to success for his growth as a player. Furthermore, there’s no doubt he wants to be somewhere that will allow him to display his qualities to secure a spot on the Spain national team for the World Cup.

Outside of Spain, there’s interest from Olympique de Marseille, which pressures Tottenham to trust their club as the best possible development option for the young player. Nonetheless, Gil’s future remains up in the air.

Saw the clip of the players arriving for training and the shot on the stairs of the 3 Spanish players got me thinking how many of them will start the season with THFC only Reguilon but even then if an offer came in from Spain………….

I actually like the lad but why the hell did Paratici sign him? Where was the due diligence?

I read somewhere Gil will be on the aeroplane so Conte may want another look before shipping him out. Bantamweights like Bernardo can thrive in the prem but only on a fast ball moving team like City and not sure Tony believes we’re there yet.

With the football season so long now – July to May- when do the players in France have time for farming?

If we loaned him to a Championship side, he’d get injured and his value would plummet. He’s a bit like Christian Pulisic, very talented but too slight and frail to last in the Premier League. Maybe Riyad Mahrez is just lucky, because he’s a wisp of a fellow too and avoids getting hurt. Gill would either have to beef up, or adjust his game to last. I don’t think he has the frame and genetics to put on significant muscle mass, and altering his style would remove his best qualities…so keep him developing and in the shop window. La Liga is the right place for that. Playing in France is a bit of a joke really, one team league full of rejects and farmers.

Seems like he’s just being fattened for an eventual sale to a Spanish side – I’m starting to give up on him pulling on the shirt again.

But then, this is how Chelsea have operated for a while – half their loan players are established internationals but never actually play for the Chelsea first team

Lateral move. If he keeps getting loaned out to La Liga, we will never learn if he can cut it in England.

Would prefer to send him to the Championship.
