Serge Aurier’s mistake cost Tottenham a place in the FA Cup fifth round as we drew 1-1 with Southampton this afternoon.
It had looked as though Son Heung-min’s second-half goal would be enough to send us through before Aurieritis struck again late on.
The Ivorian full-back took one too many touches in his own half and Southampton pounced to equalise with three minutes to go.
There are some who insist that Aurier has improved under Jose Mourinho, which may be true only because of the low ceiling he had set.
But these Spurs fans on Twitter have laughed at that notion.
Aurier costing us the result yet again. And some fans actually think this liability is getting better! 😠 #SOUTOT #FACup #COYS

Where’s all the Aurier fan club members crowing about how he’s improved so much under Jose?

Aurier reminding us that while Mourinho can improve you, he can't give you talent

‘Best player since mourinho has come in apparently’ 😂😂😂😂
If you buy a new house and the tap leaks for two weeks, you fix it.
If the tap starts leaking again a month later, you probably fix it again.
If the tap keeps on leaking, you buy a new tap. You have to kill the leak.
Aurier is the leak. The problem is – Daniel Levy is the plumber.
Sanchez is almost as poor. He has no ability in the air, or reading balls in flight, misjudging long balls every time he plays. For a guy to be losing aerials to opponents 6″ shorter than him, regularly looking like slapstick comedy routine as he stumbles around out there like a headless chicken.
Defenders trying to dribble in the final third of the
field are asking for trouble. Maybe Mourinho can coach awareness into him, he doesn’t lack ability, but he doesn’t read the game well, doesn’t have what coaches would call situational awareness. Foyth suffers from the same problem, he will turn into trouble and he’s being cut loose. Could Aurier be a part of a top team, I have doubts, he’s no youngster.
