Tottenham are dealing with a full-blown injury crisis right now in January 2026. Many absolutely key players are sidelined, particularly in midfield and attack, which has been a recurring issue this season. Whilst pressure mounts on head coach Frank, there are numerous extenuating circumstances.

Here’s a summary of the main current injuries based on the latest reports from sources like Premier Injuries, Transfermarkt, and other reliable outlets.

James Maddison (Attacking Midfield): Cruciate ligament tear (ACL) from preseason (August 2025). Long-term, expected return around June 2026. Ruled out for the season.

Mohammed Kudus (Right Winger): Hamstring/quad tendon injury (reported early January 2026). Expected return mid-April 2026. Frank told reporters:

‘Mohammed, unfortunately, is a bigger one to the tendon in the quad. That is one where we expect him back after the March international break.’

Rodrigo Bentancur (Central Midfield): Hamstring injury (January 2026). Expected return early-mid April 2026.

Richarlison (Centre-Forward): Hamstring injury (mid-January 2026). Expected return late February or early March 2026 (up to 7 weeks).

Ben Davies (Defender): Ankle injury/fracture requiring surgery (recent, announced around January 19). Expected return mid-April 2026.

Lucas Bergvall (Midfield): Lower leg/ankle injury picked up in the recent Champions League game vs Borussia Dortmund (January 2026). Reports suggest 2-3 months out, potentially missing until mid-April.

Joao Palhinha (Midfield): Knock injury, currently being assessed — doubtful for upcoming games but in the short term.

Dejan Kulusevski (Winger/Attack): Complicated knee injury (January). No firm return date yet; recovery ongoing, pain management key.

Of Kulu, Thomas Frank said:

‘We know it is a complicated injury. If there is one person who can accelerate that [recovery], it is Dejan. The most important thing is to remove the pain in the knee. He had an injection to help ten days ago. We will know in 3-4 weeks if that has settled. And when it has settled, hopefully, he will be on the grass and from there, we will see what is happening.’

All in all, this is not what fans will want to know.
