Report: AC Milan continues to monitor Spurs winger Steven Bergwijn

The summer months aren’t that far away, and while the club hopes to finish the 2021-22 season strong, whether that’s winning trophies or clinching spots for Europe next season.

However, those in the clubs’ front offices are looking at potential targets to improve their squad for 2022-23. AC Milan is putting together a list of targets to strengthen their attack for next season, and Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn is on their list.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 24-year-old is being observed closely by the Italian club. The report details that Milan considers him to be a perfect fit for Stefano Pioli’s style of football, given his strengths are dribbling and speed.

Nonetheless, this pursuit has an issue as Rafael Leão occupies the Dutchman’s preferred left-wing position. However, the report stresses that Bergwijn has an entirely different physique than the Portuguese winger.

The Tottenham winger is around 15cm shorter and uses his low center of gravity to shift through the gears. There are no further details as to how much Milan is willing to pay for Bergwijn.

“A report from Calciomercato states that Serie A side AC Milan are also interested in signing Bergwijn from Spurs this summer and could get him for as little as £15m, which is nearly half of what his move from PSV cost”

I just want owners like Liverpool or Man City who genuinely care about what happens on the pitch.

Our owners have had 20+ years of fleecing the fanbase

I hoped our home defeat to United was the lightbulb moment for Danny boy….but now I’m not too sure if anything will ever change

I have no interest in Gun’s n Roses, Lady GaGA or American Football I just want to see the club I’ve supported for over 50 years win a trophy before I die

He just cant finish and that cameo at Leicester was the great exception to that statement.
Him & Lucas are fair to middling players who wouldnt get a sniff at any club above us.

an alternative to what – a football club?

Bergy is the nearest to play as a winger we have, but we don’t do that.

Same old same old. I wonder if it’s because it’s spam at the weekend? There’s been a lot of lower attendances up to now.
We desperately need a saviour to buy us out or it’s a dismal future.

The sad fact GCTM is that diehard fans will still turn up week in week out to watch Spurs play. Sunday’s game is sold out, even after last Saturday’s result.

Even season ticket renewals have been brought forward to April and I guarantee that deluded fans will cough up beieving that next season will be different.

That’s what the board knows so they put very little investment in the playing staff and just build their property port folio.

Our only hope is that some of the failed Chelsea bidders, get the taste of owning a football club and look at Spurs as an alternative.

The days of us qualifying for a super league are long gone. Too many years of neglect of the squad I’m afraid. The closest we’ll get is allowing top clubs to maybe hire our stadium!

I don’t think he gave anything much thought about what to do after moving into the shopping mall and paying himself a £2m bonus.

Membership of a Super League seems to be the only thing he’s looking to. It’s desperately unfair to pay all that for a stadium (with other people’s money) and not be in it, even if you win nothing and are not an elite club. Obviously… 😆

Exactly, it’s all about running a football club on a tight budget thanks to the pwudent pillock in chief. He thinks as long as we have Kane and Son then the fans will keep filling up the stadium regardless. I’ve got news for him; if the results keep falling away the stadium will empty and his prize asset will want out. Levy is simply spinning too many plates at once and they are beginning to fall.

Contrary to what most people believe, turning it on and having an amazing game every now and again doesn’t mean that you’ve got the quality to do that week in week out. Performing well in certain matches can often be about particular aspects of the opposition, finding space et cetera. If you add up Moura’s great games in a Spurs shirt, you’re probably looking at about 10%. These are the kind of players we end up with, because the ones that do it In a regular fashion, will want significantly higher wages, and cost significantly more in fees to acquire. You’re absolutely right, this is Levy rooting through the bargain bucket constantly.

Bergwijn is like a budget version of Moura, able to perform the odd miracle once in a blue moon but largely ineffective. A typical Levy sub £30m punt in other words.

Does make me wonder how Milan sign so many average players and still sit top of Serie A. Not a strong league these days.

Can they stop ‘monitoring’ him and just give us what we paid? I’ll pay for the EasyJet flight to Milan…

Leao looks class. How about Bergwijn plus cash. Throw in Winks for free.
