Steven Bergwijn is a name floated as a possible departure this January transfer window. However, Tottenham Hotspur isn’t willing to offload him at the first offer, which Ajax learned with their recent proposal.

According to a report from The Times, Spurs have turned down a loan offer from Ajax. There are no further details on why the north London club decided to reject the bid; perhaps they want a permanent sale.

There’s also the possibility of manager Antonio Conte wanting more time to evaluate Bergwijn, who had a good game in Tottenham’s 2-1 EFL Cup win over West Ham United. The 24-year-old scored a goal and registered an assist.

Bergwijn hasn’t lived up to the expectations Spurs might have had when they brought the forward from PSV Eindhoven. In 64 appearances with Tottenham, the Netherlands international has scored five goals while registering ten assists.

It will be interesting to see if Conte can get more out of him these next six months, or perhaps Tottenham is stalling for a better offer from Ajax.

With Sonny out, Harry one tackle away from out, covid testing, Stevie in and out, and fixtures coming fast and furious the logical thing to do would be to BUY players not sell/loan them.

If he is healthy instead of trying get a punt. Let him back up Kane. Now that Son is down he should see more time. And for FFS play Gil on the left.
