Mourinho expects to count on Dele Alli for the rest of the season

Jose Mourinho doesn’t expect Dele Alli to leave the club in this transfer window with just a few more days left.

The Englishman has been out of the first-team picture under the Portuguese boss this season.

He has been linked with a move to PSG which would reunite him with Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine manager gave Alli his Tottenham debut and they both enjoyed working together.

Alli has since struggled to impress Mourinho, and a move away from North London might be the best solution for him.

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s game against Liverpool, Mourinho said that he wasn’t expecting the former MK Dons man to leave, but knows anything can happen in football.

He claimed that he wasn’t expecting the Lilywhites to be busy in this transfer window from the start to the finish.

However, even though there are only a few days left, he is open to surprises.

Mourinho said: ‘I expect. I am saying that since the beginning of the transfer window, I was not expecting anyone to leave, I was not expecting anyone to come.

‘At January 27, not long until the end, I don’t believe anything is going to happen, but it is open. Football is football.

‘The transfer window is open, sometimes unexpected things happen, but I don’t expect it.’
