Tanguy Ndombele gives an update on his relationship with Jose Mourinho

Tanguy Ndombele had one of the toughest starts to life in the Premier League last season.

The Frenchman joined Spurs from Lyon in a record-breaking deal after his fine performances for the French side in Ligue 1.

His signing came only a few months after Tottenham had lost the Champions League final to Liverpool.

However, he didn’t help the team get better at the start of his time at Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino was sacked and replaced with Jose Mourinho.

The midfielder struggled to meet the demands of the Portuguese manager and it looked like he wouldn’t last as a Tottenham player.

In the last transfer window, he was linked with a move away from the club, but he stayed and he has now become a much improved player.

He revealed to the club’s YouTube channel recently that things had been tough between himself and Mourinho at the start, but they are on good terms now, they even laugh with each other.

“I’ve got a good relationship with the coach – we speak together, we laugh together,” Ndombele said.

“And the more difficult moments last season we’ve left behind us. We’re now both trying our hardest to help the team.”

“I think that, yes, I am working a bit differently now,” he added. “I find myself working harder in training and in the matches.

“But above all I think I’ve just settled in better. It’s true that the last season was difficult – to change championships like that, it isn’t easy.

“But now I feel like I’m really settling in better and I really hope that I’m on the right track for the future.”

Would like to see him complete 90 mins now. I thought he looked a little lost in midfield at times against Brighton

Fair play to him for doing the work to improve, fantastic talent who when up to speed will terrorise the other Premier League teams.
