Standard Sports claims that Tottenham is continuing talks with Swansea City over the transfer of Joe Rodon before the domestic transfer window closes on 16th October, but the teams are far apart in their valuation of the centre back.
Spurs have wanted to sign a new centre-back all summer and their pursuit of Milan Skriniar ultimately failed as they couldn’t reach an agreement with Inter Milan over the transfer for the Slovakian centre-back.
They also considered a move for Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger and that pursuit also failed.
The European transfer window has closed and they will have to find a new centre-back in the English football pyramid.
They have identified Rodon as one player that they can add to their team and Swansea will be willing to sell him, but Spurs don’t think their asking price is realistic.
Spurs value him at around £7million, but the Swans want £18million, the report claims.
Both teams have the next ten days to try to get the deal sorted else Spurs will have to go on with this campaign with just Davinson Sanchez, Alderweireld, and Eric Dier as their senior centre- backs.

Combination of everybody, Birch obviously but also the Welsh lads as you can learn a lot about a player in training, along with the 4 games.
Davies and Bale wouldn’t have seen him play much as he’s only had four caps,it would surely be Trevor Birch ex Swans chairman and our new director of football that knows him best.Seven PL teams have followed Joe’s progress plus Bournemouth so he’s not a hidden gem they have watched him for quite a while his ankle injuries are concerning.I wonder who the other CH in the Championship is that we are also considering. I agree with you about our players looking sharper against Utd,it was our eighth game and only Utds fifth,it was like we had a preseason and they were just back from holiday.
Once that would have concerned me, but having just seen the lads wipe the floor with Utd following 4 games in a week for some of them, I’m less concerned. It seems that all those extra games have actually got us match fit quicker than some other teams. As long as we get him then that’s the main thing, and we do need another CB. I wouldn’t mind betting that Bale and Davies have both recommended him.
If he isn’t signed tonight he won’t be involved in the EL group stages.
