Revealed – what Eric Dier told his teammates after climbing into the stands to confront fans

After climbing into the stands to confront a Tottenham fan that was abusing his brother, Eric Dier told his teammates of his frustration that his family members have to be subjected to abuse while he watches.

The Englishman committed the act when Tottenham was eliminated from the FA Cup by Norwich City at home in March.

It was a tough time for the club as their performance on the pitch was poor and both fans and players were very frustrated at that point.

The fan seems to be taking out his frustration on Dier’s brother and the England player couldn’t stand and watch as his sibling was being abused.

In the Spurs new documentary on Amazon – All or Nothing, the Amazon cameras picked up the former Sporting Lisbon man’s reaction when he returned to the dressing room.

He tells the other players as quoted by Sun Sports: “I was looking for my brother in the stand and there was a guy a couple of rows in front of my brother and he was going like this, ‘F*** you, f*** you, s***’.

“He was a Tottenham fan, yeah, two rows below my brother.

“That’s where my mother sits, that’s where my sister sits and everyone’s families sit.”

The England star added: “Our parents have to stand there and have someone two rows in front call you a c*** and f***ing son of a b****, and a p**** and s*** and this — and they think it’s OK.”

The Lilywhites eventually ended that season in a European place despite having a poor start and Dier will hope that they can deliver a trophy to the fans who have endured years of trophy drought.

I rate dier so much for the way he dealt with that.

I don’t agree with the abuse around women and children but Dier needs to look in the mirror and remember the performances he was putting in. I was hurling the same abuse at him in my mind each time he fell asleep and cost us goals, points and matches.

Frustrating yes, but the sensible option would be to have had him arrested, ejected and banned. Still, it’s easy for me to say that now I’m a super chilled middle aged man lol.

As Kane said in the doc although in a different context, ‘we aren’t robots’.

When it comes to their family, some players won’t hold back.

Hope Dier gets his swagger back, at a certain point it looked like he had the aura of a captain.
