Tottenham starting XI v Everton – is this the team Mourinho will go with?

Tottenham kick-off their 2020/21 Premier League season on Sunday against Everton and there is every chance that Jose Mourinho is going to be able to put out his best eleven.

It is expected that both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty will get debuts and the bigger question is which players will miss out.

This is the line up I am expecting but as usual with Mourinho, be prepared to be surprised.

Goalkeeper

Hugo Lloris – This selection is probably as certain as it ever gets.

Defenders

Ben Davies – Not really much choice with this one

Eric Dier – A Mourinho favourite and an almost certain starter

Toby Alderweireld – Chances are he will be selected to partner Dier but if there is one position in the defence that Mourinho may mess with, it is Dier’s partner.

Matt Doherty – Mourinho is hardly going to select Serge Aurier now he has signed the former Wolves man

Midfield

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – Almost guaranteed to start, especially with the very real possibility that Mourinho will build the midfield around the Dane.

Harry Winks – The Portuguese really does like Winks, I would not go with him, far too negative for my liking but it is not me picking the team.

Lucas Moura – This is where it gets tricky but I am guessing that the Brazilian will be picked to do his magic down the right-wing.

Son Heing-Min – Guaranteed starter and I reckon he will start out on the left-wing, whether he stays there is another matter.

Forwards

Dele Alli – Most likely to start just behind Kane and be the creative force that he can be, let’s hope he turns up.

Harry Kane – Obvious selection, no words needed.

That is the starting eleven I reckon Mourinho will go with but I could easily be very wrong, Sissoko could easily be selected over Winks and Alli may well be dropped into midfield with Son and Moura playing to the left and right of Kane.

And of course, Giovani Lo Celso could start if passed fit.

Anyway, let me know your opinions on who Mourinho will go with.

Mate. I actually agree. There have been a few women players over the past few years that could do a job in the men’s game. I don’t think she is one. She bullies a lot up front in womens game, she could not do that in men’s, she relies on her speed and bad defence a lot too. She simply wouldn’t get the chances in men’s game.

She knows how to ripple the ol onion bag, should give Kane some real competition. Go on Alex.

Depends on what Mou has in mind for the ‘Ropa qualifier a few days later. Defense picks itself if Toby is healthy. Rest depends on tactics, training ground sharpness, who’s going to travel to Bulgaria.

Spurs finally signed a striker, a world cup winner no less!

Sadly it’s the ladies team!
