Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano told the Last Word on Spurs podcast that Tottenham manager, Jose Mourinho likes Leon Bailey and the Lilywhites have an eye on the Jamaican forward.
Bailey is a pacey winger that has proven to be one of the most exciting to watch around Europe.
The 23-year-old has been tracked by a number of top teams from when he was playing in the Belgian league.
He has continued to develop his game in Germany and Romano reckons that he might just end up at Tottenham this summer.
He claims that the player is well-liked by Mourinho and that Spurs’ board are following his trail, he then urged listeners to keep an eye on how that develops.
He, however, added that Spurs might struggle to sign the winger for a low fee because the Germans have no need for money having sold two big players already.
“Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen is a player Jose Mourinho likes so much and Tottenham board are following, so I’ll keep his name as a possibility,” Romano said on the podcast.
“The real problem for Tottenham is that Bayer Leverkusen don’t need money at the moment because they have sold Kai Havertz to Chelsea and Volland to Monaco,” Romano added.
“So if you want to take Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen you have to pay, and they will accept a bid of around €50 million to €60 million.
“We need to see what happens with Bayer Leverkusen. The player is appreciated by Mourinho and by the board, so I’ll say he is a possibility, but we need to wait to see the right name if Tottenham will decide to go for a winger.”
