Tottenham ended their Premier League season with a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.
Harry Kane had given them the lead in the first half, but the Lilywhites struggled to make an impact upfront from that point onwards.
Palace got their equalising goal in the 53rd minute which helped them earn their first points in eight games as they came into this game on the back of a seven-game losing streak.
Kane proved to be an important player for Spurs again with his goal, but it was obvious to see that Spurs struggled to get going in their attack.
After the game, Jose Mourinho was quizzed about his team’s struggles in the attack and he explained that pressure played a role and that the fatigue of a 12 month season also played a part.
Mourinho said, as quoted by Football.London: “I think pressure, I think the typical fatigue of a season of 12 months where people can say ‘oh for two or three months you didn’t play’ but those months were probably even harder, to be at home, closed in and training on the Zoom. Then come to the club and train on your own.
“It’s a 12 month season so really, really difficult. It’s an accumulation of things.
“I also have to say that Palace did very well. They played with incredible professionalism. This is England. This is England I repeat.
“So great professionalism, trying to win the game. Need or don’t need it doesn’t matter, we always need in football, which is what they did.
“In the first half they created problems, especially through the left, they accumulated three players there. The kid, the left-back played very well, Schlupp and Zaha was a kind of a striker but attacking those areas there.
“They put us in some problems. So the game was also difficult so I give my credit to Palace for that.”
Mourinho would now look to strengthen his team as they look to win the Europa League next season after finishing the season in a European place.

The Leeds loyal & faithful won’t want your type.
I think you’re forgetting how many chances Arsenal had against us, Lloris made several top saves and they hit the post, could have gone either way.
Following Leeds is my way of protesting against ENIC not fulfilling their obligation to the fans. I’m not being browbeat by their sign “This is my one and only club”, bollox to that, run it properly and it might be.
We deserved to beat the Goons and could easily have scored more. Fair result. The Leicester score did flatter us, but we were the more dangerous despite not having much possession. Kane’s class was the difference there. Today we were back to being complete pants – a la much of the last two seasons – and could easily have lost the game. Our central midfield continues to be the elephant in the room – has been since Dembele’s departure.
As for following two teams in and around the same division…sacrilege.
We had what 1 chance against the worse performing club in the league currently? That’s pretty awful considering we were chasing Europe and they were safe. TBH we got a bit lucky against Arsenal and Leicester I think, the latter result especially flattered us.
If we don’t bring in some quality players to compensate for the failed transfer windows where discount Danny didn’t spend a penny, or brought in cheap dross, then this trend is going to continue and he can forget about his stadium, or shopping mall, ever hosting CL football again.
It’s decision time for ENIC – do they want to slide down the table and miss out on all those billions? Because if they don’t strengthen this squad, and with quality not cheap cannon fodder, then they’re going to oversee one of the greatest slides from a CL final the world has ever seen.
Thank god I also follow Leeds because this lot do my head in!
