“He’s not scared of leaving” Former Spurs Striker Has No Words Of Comfort For Fans

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has admitted he is not surprised that Harry Kane may want to leave the club.

Talk of Kane’s potential exit has accelerated rapidly since he suggested on an Instagram Live interview with Jamie Redknapp earlier this month that he would pursue his ambitions of winning major trophies elsewhere if he felt that Spurs were no longer in a position to do so.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have been the clubs most heavily linked to Kane, as well as Manchester City, as The Express details, and Bent can see the striker’s attraction to joining one of Europe’s very best.

The 36-year-old, who scored 25 goals in two mediocre seasons at Spurs, also encouraged Spurs to make the most of selling Kane by doing so at his peak value, which he argues could be the next transfer window.

“When you sell Harry Kane, you want to sell him at his absolute peak, and his peak is right now,” Bent told Football Insider. “So for me, if you’re going to sell him, you’ve got to sell him in the next couple of years, and that’s when you’re going to get the most money for him.

“Harry Kane has already said himself that if Spurs haven’t progressed at the rate he wants them to then he’s not scared of leaving. It doesn’t surprise me. You want to go and play for one of the giants in Europe.

“But if you are going to sell him, make sure you sell him at top dollar, and that could be £150-200 million.”

It is becoming inevitable that Kane is going to leave so the club needs to protect itself by getting the best possible deal on all fronts.

That means when, where, and how much.

Unlike most of his Spurs career, Bent isn’t far off target with this take on the situation.
