Two atrocities of modern-day football came together at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today – Serge Aurier and VAR.
There was nearly two minutes between Aurier’s rash tackle on Sergio Aguero in the box and referee Mike Dean pointing to the penalty spot after a whisper in his ear from the Stockley Park officials.

Spurs fans may argue that if it takes that long, it can’t be clear and obvious?
But that would just be diversion tactics from another Aurier calamity. It is Sadio Mane all over again – Aguero is going away from goal and he sticks his foot in where it doesn’t belong. It is clear and obvious.
How many more chances is this guy going to get? I say none.
