Jose Mourinho has handed Steven Bergwijn an immediate debut for Tottenham’s visit of Manchester City this afternoon.
It would have been post-Easter since before we saw the new signing from PSV Eindhoven under Mauricio Pochettino but Mourinho has thrown him straight in at the deep end in an attack-minded lineup.

Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura also start as Jose tries to hit the vulnerable City defence with pace, pace and more pace.
Spurs fans on Twitter are buzzing to see Bergwijn’s name on the team-sheet but some of that jubilation is cut short by the absence of Tanguy Ndombele who is once again on the bench after returning from injury.

Mourinho’s team sees only one change from the 1-1 FA Cup draw with Southampton last Saturday, with Bergwijn replacing Gedson Fernandes.
Japhet Tanganga starts again at left-back in a defence that could come under a lot of pressure with only Harry Winks as identifiable protection.
