Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura has told ESPN Brazil that he came “very close to joining Manchester United” under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Brazilian winger was hot property back in 2013 after breaking through at São Paulo, with lots of Europe’s biggest clubs clamouring over him.
He ended up going to Paris Saint-Germain, who had recently begun their Qatari regime, and spent five years there before joining Spurs in 2018.
But Lucas has revealed that he could have taken a very different path to the Premier League, revealing that talks were held with Old Trafford bosses.

“Yes there was a conversation”, he told ESPN Brazil, via The Mirror.
I for one am glad that his move to Manchester never materialised. Had it happened, we may never have got that glorious night in Amsterdam.
The 27-year-old’s form has picked up again under Jose Mourinho, with three goals in six matches including one in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Wolves.
