62.5% Stat Emerges Ahead Of Brentford Game That May Or May Not Reassure Nervous Spurs Fans

By The Boy -

The magic of the cup it is, and Spurs are only a few games away from a cup final. If it feels like a long time, that’s because it is. The last coach didn’t warm to the notion of them, as his CV attests. Fingers crossed the Argentine has re-thought his position, given the severe demands the PSG board have placed upon him.

Can Spurs overcome Brentford, the Championship upstarts?! The ‘Bees’ may be wondering just how long this evening’s game might last. 3 of Tottenham’s last 4 League Cup ties against lower league sides have been decided by penalties. Can the visitors take Mourinho’s boys the distance?

62.5% of Tottenham’s last eight regular-time League Cup wins against lower league opponents have come with a clean sheet. So when we win in such ties, we win convincingly.

It’s not unreasonable to believe that Brentford will be hoping that Harry Kane and/or Heung Son-Min are rested, and Spurs fans are probably interested in seeing Carlos Vicinius gets a proper run out. Given Mourinho has stated how important this game is, I hope the bold Carlos doesn’t get too long.

Gosh you are a genius amongst……tired of these whiners and you wonder whh we cannot shake the Spursy thing. Liverpool falter yesterday, we have a game in hand to balance out the chasing pack. Go get this game then worry about Sunday. That is a lot of days to get players rested. A day off and light walk through. It is more important for tactical sessions than beating the players into the ground.

It’ll be be Kane and Son from the off. Put two or three in early and demoralise them.

Am trying to figure out what you are complaining about. This is what it is, and we are participating. What would be more telling according to your gripes, the competiton so watered down and we cannot at least reach the finals. You sre for F…sakes some kind of whiner. Jose did say he wants to win any competition he is participating in. That has not change so far. This is healthy for the squad to have an end goal instead of just trying to make the top 4 because as that is where our ambitions peak. Get over yourself and enjoy the game for once.

Don’t underestimate Brentford. They have players capable of scoring goals from outrageous positions.

No doubt Brentford will not be a problem anyway. Other than a lacklustre Chelsea it’s essentially been a buy to the final.
It’s embarrassing compared to the old League cup, used to have 2 legs and about 6 rounds to the final. This year it’s been Chelsea on pens Stoke and Brentford. Hardly a competition anymore. Even the semi is 1 match. I remember the 2 legged tussles vs Forest in late 80’s such drama and emotion in them. Tough old comp.

If it’s as important as Jose’s saying it is to him….he will start the strongest possible 11. Let’s see.

Yep. Same as Poch and everyone else, due to having to prioritize cos of a squad with not enough quality in depth to compete in cups and get Levy his CL loot.

It’s important not to give them Hope, Confidence. By putting out a Weakened Team that’s what we give them.

Realistically give it’s our only hope of winning silverware lets play our strongest X1 tonight comprising the likes of Kane and Son et al.

Would you put out a 2nd string side for the biggest game of the season (so far – and ignoring local derbies as major). No. Put out the best team on paper tonight.
Let the 2nd String play Sunday instead (but retain a strong bench)

Credit Brentford for selling 2 of their best players to Villa (Watkins) and West Ham (Berahima) and pushing for promotion!!

By dismissing any monetary considerations purely from a fans perspective I would rather win the Carabs Cup than finish 4th in the PL. Thats my view and sticking to it!

I very rarely say this – style is not important tonight. Result is all that counts. I always feel that when dealing with “giant killing” or the chance of an actual cup. Tonight I would like to see a full strength start, get a lead of 2 and then defend it out. Brentford should not be under estimated, they can hurt us if we let them. All we can hope it to demoralise them (veryhard in a cup game, when its all or nothing).

(Via Sky Sports)

“I think it is my biggest game since coming to Spurs,” said Mourinho, who was appointed head coach in November 2019. “In the perspective of the club chasing silverware for many years I would say so.

“The only thing more important than semi-finals is finals.”

“For me every competition is important,” he added. “I won what was then the Carling Cup in my first season in England in 2004/05, so for me every competition is different and does matter.

“That’s my way of looking at things and especially in a club without silverware in I think more than one decade. Every competition becomes even more important.

“If we win two matches we win a trophy – two difficult matches of course – which I think would be a very good thing for the club and the players.”

THIS is something I want my manager to say before an important cup game, not “I might leave if we win” and certainly not “winning a cup won’t change our lives” – and I imagine this determined mindset will rub off on the players.

We have a brilliant chance to get to the final, where we would face one of two strong sides we’ve already beaten this season.

Let’s do it!

As I am not British, I have never seen a Championship game and know nothing about the quality of that league. But I feel quite comfortable about the game tonight. And I seldom do, regardless who Spurs are playing. Hope its not a bad omen…

Don’t think we can rest players for this one. No matter who the opposition is, it’s a Semi Final and a great chance to get to a final. I want to see our strongest team. Imagine Vinicius will be starting on Sunday against Marine….

If our squad is as good as some people think, then it shouldn’t matter which 11 Jose picks tonight. Of course the problem is that those of us who live in the real world know our sqaud isn’t actually that strong and we regualrly rely on the same handfull of players to help us get results.
