£40m star who wants Tottenham move could be left on the bench next season to make a point

By Saikat -

David Raya has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old Spaniard has reportedly agreed personal terms with the London club and he wants to join them in the coming weeks.

However, Tottenham have not been able to agree on a fee with his club yet.

Apparently the goalkeeper is valued at £40 million but Tottenham are hoping to sign him for £20 million.

A report from Daily Mail claims that Brentford are prepared to lose the player on a free transfer if their valuation is not met. They are ready to play hardball and hold on to the player for the next season. The report further states that Raya could be left on the bench next season to make a point as well.

The 27-year-old will be out of contract next summer and it makes sense for Brentford to cash in on him for a reasonable fee this summer.

The Spaniard has proven insert to be a quality goalkeeper in the Premier League and he will be looking to move on and join a bigger club now. A move to Tottenham would be an excellent option for him and it remains to be seen whether the north London giants can secure an agreement with Brentford soon.

Spurs need to bring in a quality replacement for club legend Hugo Lloris and the Spaniard seems like the ideal option. He could be the ideal replacement for 36-year-old Frenchman next season.
