Romano says Tottenham ‘discussing on final fee’ for 27-yr-old target, star ‘wants the move’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Brentford goalkeeper David Raya in recent weeks.

Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on the situation claiming that the two clubs are now ‘discussing on final fee’ for the 27-year-old goalkeeper.

Apparently, Raya ‘wants the move’ to Tottenham and talks are currently ongoing between the two parties.

The goalkeeper will be out of contract at Brentford next summer and he has decided not to renew his contract with them.  Brentford are not clearly under pressure to sell the player this summer. They will not want to lose him on a free transfer next year.

Tottenham have reportedly agreed personal terms with the player already and it remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with his club now.

Club legend Hugo Lloris has been quite mediocre this past season and he will have to be replaced as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Raya has proven himself to be a reliable Premier League goalkeeper and he would be a solid replacement for Lloris. The 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers and he could sort out the Tottenham goalkeeping situation for the foreseeable future.

Raya has clearly proven himself at Brentford and he deserves to take the next step in his career. Although Tottenham are not in the UEFA Champions League next season, they have a talented squad capable of pushing for trophies and finishing in the top four next year. It is an ambitious project and the player will be tempted to perform at a higher level with them.
