3 Reasons Harry Kane Is Highly Unlikely To Leave Spurs

This article is not written from the perspective of a child, conjuring up reasons why they ought not to have their toys taken away, but from a practical level. While fans can never control the press narrative, they can at least seek to control how they react to it, which is why when someone hits the share button on a story so palpably flawed, they are becoming part of the unhelpful white noise and part of the problem. Harry Kane to Bayern Munich has been rumbling away for several transfer windows now, and whilst we all know how big this German side is, how does this rumour stand up to scrutiny?

For me, this tale could best be described as ‘flattering, but empty’, and I’ll explain why. Harry has spent his entire career developing a strategy that has worked for him personally. Critics have constantly sought to undermine the player by pointing out the absence of silverware, but the facts of the matter are not up for debate. Harry Edward Kane MBE has scored 213 Premier League goals, leaving him just 47 to go before he can equal Alan Shearer’s incredible record. Walking away from this task, so close to completion in England, is nonsensical.

Having not lifted silverware at Spurs, what is there to stop the 29-year-old from attempting to do so elsewhere? In theory, nothing. However, Harry’s status at Tottenham is unparalleled. The phrase ‘one of our own’ couldn’t be more fitting. Harry is the most respected player, the most well-thought-of man, and the most well-compensated member of the squad. No one is senior to him. How could the Germans come close to replicating this? As we saw with Gareth Bale, being a foreigner is far from easy, despite success.

Finally, there’s the human side of the footballer. As I discovered when talking to Matt LeTissier on my Substack, a player’s personal counts for a lot. Letissier felt that Kane having such a young family was probably going to become an issue in any transfer discussions. The idea of the Kane’s moving to Germany appears ridiculous, as does that of the young father commuting.

As I say, this talk is undoubtedly flattering, but it lacks substance.
