28-year-old Dutch striker still wanted by Tottenham

Tottenham remains keen on a move for Dutch striker, Wout Weghorst as they continue to face uncertainty over the future of Harry Kane.

The Wolfsburg frontman was one of their transfer targets last summer when they looked for a backup to Kane.

They settled for Carlos Vinicius but the Brazilian has returned to Benfica after his uninspiring loan spell in London.

Spurs will likely sign another striker this summer and Express Sports reports that Weghorst remains one of their targets.

The report says he is liked by Tottenham’s Technical Performance Director Steve Hitchen.

The striker was reportedly close to a Premier League switch last summer, but the deal collapsed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It isn’t clear if he was moving to Spurs, but after firing his Bundesliga club to a Champions League place, he could be allowed to leave them this summer.

The Germans are open to selling him and they will sell for the right price.

The 28-year-old scored 20 Bundesliga goals from 32 league games last season, a figure that could make a real difference at Tottenham if it is added to goals from Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.

TransferMarkt currently values him at €30m, but it remains unclear if Spurs will agree to pay that much for him.

Usual story, we’ll not pay the money & he’ll go elsewhere & be a sensation. The Saints have a couple of interesting players. Personally, I’m not bothered about supposed top players costing shed loads of money – I just want players that will put in 100% & play as a team.
