27-yr-old with most saves in top five leagues ‘wanted’ by Tottenham, Chelsea

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent months.

French international goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has not been at his best and Antonio Conte will have to find a quality replacement for the 36-year-old at the end of the season.

The World Cup winner’s error-prone performances have cost valuable points this season and Tottenham cannot afford to go into another season with him as their first-choice goalkeeper.

According to a report from Marca, Spanish goalkeeper David Raya is a target for Tottenham.

The 27-year-old has excelled in the Premier League with Brentford and he will be out of contract at the end of next season.

The player has not agreed to an extension yet and he is reportedly ‘wanted’ by clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. According to the report from Marca, Raya has produced the most number of saves in the top five leagues this season and he has a save percentage of 76.92%.

Only Gianluigi Donnarumma has a higher percentage of saves among goalkeepers who have more than 70 saves this season.

Raya will be looking to make a step up in his career and a move to Chelsea or Tottenham could prove to be a tempting opportunity. The 27-year-old will feel that joining a big club could improve his chances of starting for his country.

Chelsea are expected to lose Edouard Mendy at the end of the season and Raya could replace him at the club.

However, Tottenham could provide him with the opportunity to start every week and Antonio Conte’s men are well-placed to secure Champions League qualification as well. Chelsea are currently 10th in the league table and they might not play in the Champions League next year. That could give Tottenham a serious advantage in the transfer race.
