“100 per cent. I have no doubt about it.” Robinson gives his opinion on Bale returning to Tottenham

By Bruce Grove -

Paul Robinson reckons that Gareth Bale will be useful to Real Madrid next season and that rules out the possibility of the attacker returning to Tottenham.

Bale spent this season on loan at Spurs after falling down the pecking order at Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane didn’t consider him an important part of his plans at the Spanish side, but the Frenchman has since been fired and replaced with Carlo Ancelotti.

Bale had a mixed spell on loan at Spurs, but he had a fine relationship with Ancelotti when the Italian managed Madrid earlier in the last decade.

Spurs could try to bring Bale back to London if their next manager demands the signing of the Welsh attacker.

However, Robinson says money isn’t in large supply at Madrid and that means they would consider Bale a useful alternative to a new acquisition next season.

He also says the fine relationship between the attacker and their new gaffer will make him an important member of their squad.

“Ancelotti will want Bale to stay with him,” he told Football Insider. “100 per cent. I have no doubt about it.

“Bale showed his worth in flashes but with all of the uncertainty going on at the club I think it would be a big financial risk to re-sign him. The wages are huge and if Tottenham are going in a different direction they need to start afresh.

“Ancelotti and Bale have worked well together in the past. Ancelotti has the man-management skills to get Bale onside.

“The finances at Real Madrid are not what they used to be so I think he will look to utilise Bale next season.”
