100% Passing Accuracy, 100% Recoveries, 100% Long Passes; Højbjerg Was A Rock For Denmark

By The Boy -
HEATING UP WITH PIERRE VERSUS ENGLAND

Another Tottenham player that its difficult not to love. Despite last night’s Nations League’s limitations as a fan spectacle, it was great to see Pierre deliver another rock solid performance, this time for his country.

PIERRE ONLY PUT A FOOT WRONG TWICE ALL GAME

Total successful actions is a blunt way of measuring a player’s actions, but it does give us a clear overview of efficiency.

LONG PASSES ACCURACY 100%
DUELS WON 60%

Duels won is an important discipline for a defensive midfielder and the Dane beat his mean average, which is ordinarily 50.3%.

In a deadbeat game such as this, I cannot tell you how pleasing it is that Spurs have two players (the other being Eric Dier) who have delivered tip top performances. This is what professional sportsmen do.

Whatever happens in terms of our ongoing striker fiasco is one matter, but the certain knowledge that the ‘welcome mat’ has now been firmly removed from our midfield.

Levy is just a boring, risk averse property investor with zero imagination. Nothing more, nothing less. The ‘atrocious reality TV show’ confirms this. He should be nowhere near a position like the one he has at Spurs, possibly on the board but running the show? Nah… not impressed whatsoever.

It’s all a very mysterious and difficult business signing players you know. Just as Liverpool and Chavski or Leicester also find, I mean they find it nigh on impossible too!! 😂

He only hit one long pass and as it was successful he gets a 100% long pass completion rate! Yes, never though of it like that, which is obviously an example of why many people say stats are misleading.

He seems like the right kind of players that we’ve been missing since Wanyama went off the boil, so a welcome addition. Might be a good blend with Gio and Tanguy too. But he’s no world beater…

I have read and seen so many different stories on that family how they have helped fans out.
It just beats me that there is a considerable minority of Spurs fans who think the NICE shites are great. Just look at the trophies won under them.
Mind you I did enjoy the open top bus parade of the balance sheet in 2017/18 that was excellent.

Umm…he was only on the pitch from the 73rd minute.

Percentage stats don’t mean much when the sample size is tiny.

“100% long passes” – well, he only tried one. I like the kid, good value and attitude. But 20 min, facing a knackered opposition, in a meaningless glorified friendly? Thin gruel there.

Great Presidents and Prime Ministers choose the right staff and know how to delegate. The same applies to most of the CEOs of large corporations. You do not select a board to agree with you. Levy is both unable to employ the right staff or to delegate which constantly holds us back and is an endemic character weakness of his. The club needs to change the way it is run to progress.

To be fair is not hard to be better than ENIC when it comes to running a football club properly. Scouting, recruitment and transfer strategy are among life’s great mysteries for Dan da Man and Steve “Bitchin’ Hitchin

He has a great engine and is not afraid to get stuck in to a challenge. A dark streak that is missing from our current midfield.

As opposed to an investment company solely designed for the purposes of making cash for the owners and not investing or reinvesting into the team. People may laugh at the comparison, but Leicester won the league and we didn’t, and we all know why.

I don’t want to rain on your parade but he was only on for 17 mins against a pitiful England midfield. Nevertheless, he looks a solid addition but I’m not sure that he will take us to the next level. For anybody who has the time or inclination, Alyson Rudd has written a good article in today’s Times on how successful Leicester have been in their scouting , recruitment and transfer strategy. The Thai family who own Leicester are worth circa $5.9 bill. The chairman underwrites a wages policy that represented 84% of the club’s turnover in the 2018-2019 season which gives their negotiations flexibility. His wealth also allows for some transfers to be paid up front in full which many rivals are unable to match. I have written before how well run this club is and this article does nothing to dispel this view.

Just glad he remembered who his Spurs team mates were and didn’t render them hors de combat.

“Welcome mat” is that a euphemism or are you talking about Harry Winks? Thankfully we’re not talking about the ladies team here.
