I’d Rather Back A Truck Over My Loved Ones

By The Boy -

Iago’s press conference today was understandably dominated by …him.

As I suggested previously, it would require some grade of unchecked arrogance to suggest that Laudrup or Pochettino would jump their ongoing projects to manage our mess.

I’ll give Iago, this, he’s not low on confidence. “If it’s good for me” appears to be a stock line.

Would you back Sherwood? Right now, I’d rather back a truck over my loved ones. We’re supposed to be a club with aspirations. Is Iago an aspirational choice, seriously?

Just because he knows where the lavs are, it doesn’t skirt over the fact he has no CV. Tom Carroll is being brought back in. I can see some of the “fancy foreign muck” that AVB bought being flogged off.

It’s a disaster. An out and out disaster. Unless there is something truly inspired occurring behind the scenes, we’re witnessing a 3 Stooges sketch.

All the soldiers are stood in a line, and a volunteer is asked to step forward. Everyone in the platoon takes a big step backwards apart from Larry, Curly & Moe.

442, West Ham with a better class of local restaurant.

Long term, it’s number one or nothing. Going back to being an assistant is not for me. It’s the chairman’s decision.

We have to speak about it long-term with the chairman. If it’s down to me I’m getting a ten-year contract now! Football doesn’t work like that. It’s all about getting results. I listen to managers all the time talking about ‘projects’. The project is you win games or you get sacked. End of story.

I know all about the football club. I played here, it’s my club. I know what the supporters want. I know what they demand. As I say it ain’t my decision to make the appointments and we have to respect the men who take that decision.

I know the players we have got here and I know the good young talent that is coming through the club. It’s up to the club. I need to talk about philosophies. What are we looking to do? Are we looking to buy players or are we looking to bring them through? All this has to be taken into consideration when I decide whether it is right for me or not.

It has got to fit, the club and the manager to be compatible. It’s not always about the biggest name. He might have done well at another club. He might not do well at this one.

It is up to the chairman and the board to make the correct decision which is right for the long term future of the club. It’s not right to keep changing managers.
