Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old Argentine international midfielder has not been a regular starter for the North London club and he has been linked with clubs like Barcelona. However, a report from TuttoMercatoWeb claims that Tottenham have other plans for the player and they hope to tie him down to a new deal.
Tottenham could offer him a new two-year deal and ‘negotiations could start soon’ between the two parties. The report further adds that work is already underway behind the scenes and it will be interesting to see if all parties can come to an agreement soon.
However, it is fair to assume that the 28-year-old will demand more game time before putting pen to paper on a new deal. He needs to play more often at this stage of his career and he cannot continue to sit on the bench at Tottenham.
Keeping him at the club would certainly be a major boost for Tottenham. He is a versatile player capable of operating in a number of roles and he can chip in with goals and creativity in the final third. However, the player must focus on his career now and look to get it back on track.
He has shown his quality at Tottenham during cameos and there is unlikely to be any shortage of clubs keen on securing his services. It remains to be seen whether Spurs can convince him to sign a new deal with the club instead.
