In yet another injury blow for Tottenham, Richarlison has revealed that he will need to undergo a surgery on his pelvis soon.
The Brazil striker was an unused substitute for Tottenham in the chaotic 4-1 defeat to Chelsea last night in North London.
Brennan Johnson started on the left side of attack instead of him, but his night was cut short as well after Romero was sent off in the first half. He was sacrificed as Eric Dier came on in place of him to fill the void in the defense.
The game saw Spurs receive several blows apart from the goals and red cards including the injuries to James Maddison and Micky van de Ven.
But when it rains, it pours and that was the case for Tottenham yesterday. After the match, Richarlison revealed that he has been struggling with some ‘health problems’ for which he will need to undergo a surgery on his pelvis.
Richarlison said (via ESPN):
“The last few months haven’t been easy for me. I’ve had health problems. I’ve already spoken to the doctors and soon I would do surgery on my pubis.
“I’ve been suffering, fighting for my national team and my club for eight months and haven’t been taking care of myself. I think it’s time to rest, to stop for a second. I’ll think about it in the next few days and soon I will do what is best for me.”
Ange has back up for Richarlison right now with the likes of Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son available for injuries to Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic means he will have to rely on Alejo Veliz to be the only back-up attacker in the absence of Richarlison.
Tottenham who already have a very small squad must be hoping to avoid any major injury issues until the January transfer window at least.
But the recent injuries and suspensions have put Ange in a very tricky situation and it is interesting to see how he navigates them through it in the next few games.
