Ajax captain Dusan Tadic has aimed a sly dig at Spurs after he claimed that the Dutch giants would have provided a sterner test for Liverpool than Tottenham if they had reached the final of the Champions League in 2019.
Spurs famously came back from 3-0 down on aggregate in the Netherlands to eliminate the Dutch side in the semi-final of the Champions League in 2019.
The Lilywhites then succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the final and Tadic claims that Ajax would have been tougher for Liverpool to beat.
The former Southampton man admits that Liverpool are a good side, but he backs his team to have done better than Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs.
He said via Sun Sport: “It would have been nice to play them in the final. We would have had a better chance than Spurs, for sure.”
Spurs and Liverpool played one of the most boring finals we have seen in many years and the Reds only edged out the North Londoners due to bad refereeing and catching Tottenham on an off day.
The thing is this, Ajax did not get to the final, why? Because Tottenham stuffed them on their own ground, maybe Tadic should concentrate on his own teams’ failings before having a dig at a team that was simply too good for them.
FOOTBALL PLAYER IN TALKING HIS OWN TEAM UP SHOCKER.
That aged well, Dusan my son.
I would agree , our performance was feeble to say the least.
