Ange Postecoglou says Yang Min-hyeok is already making good progress getting used to his new surroundings as a Tottenham Hotspur player.

Signed in the summer, Yang’s move to North London only becomes official on January 1st after he opted to stay with Gangwon FC until the end of the South Korean season.

That decision proved well worth Yang’s time, with the 18-year-old notching an impressive 12 goals and six assists in 38 appearances.

Yang also caught the eye playing against Spurs for the K League All Stars during the summer.

But with the South Korean season over, Yang has travelled to London to acclimate to life in his new surroundings.

Yang is not able to train with Spurs until January 1st, but he’s already impressing his new manager with his personality and English skills.

Postecoglou, of course, is well-versed in helping Asian players settle in the UK having signed a host of players from the region during his Celtic days.

“Yeah, he has been in the building the last couple of days sort of having a good look around,” Postecoglou told reporters (via Football.London).

“Obviously we can’t register him until January 1st so he won’t train with us but I always feel it’s good, I had this experience at Celtic with the Asian lads we brought in, the Japanese and Korean boys, bringing them in before Christmas which allows them to settle in, especially off the field.

“That way by the time we get to register them in a couple of weeks they are already settled and can train fully. It’s good to see him around. He has been doing some English lessons which is great, he’s already sort of conversing and it’s great to have him in the building.”
